And now Phil Hay, writing for the Yorkshire Evening Post, has revealed that the youngster should agree a new long-term deal that will keep him at Elland Road for the foreseeable future.

Hay said: "He’s unlikely to commit until Massimo Cellino completes his sabbatical from Elland Road – a sensible stance when the man who “signs the cheques" has just surrendered his pen – but Leeds do not see a problem."

"He’s unlikely to commit until Massimo Cellino completes his sabbatical from Elland Road – a sensible stance..."

If it refers to him I reckon it will refer to others too.

What do you think...?

To me it sounds like an excuse to put off signing a contract whilst he listens to what might come up.

We have already missed the opportunity of getting him on a 4yr deal. Given the fact he was playing well for England U17s and i presume the academy surely we knew we had a good prospect?

We now risk having to cash in on him this summer for a lot less than he may well be worth one day.

Poor short-sighted business by those in charge imo.

When have we actually sold a player for his true worthin the last 10 years?
Excluding McCormack obviously!

Smith?

I think we probably got the right price for Luciano Becchio, we got a player that can run the channels, one that can trap a ball, someone who has set the world alight with his effort....!!!

There is one thing missing possibly, but I have no idea what that might be...?

Smith was a handful for that Premier League team this afternoon.

Very true and I wouldn't have it any other way.

But likewise folk are entitled to question.

Personally I think Cook is going to be offered a decent contract at Leeds. From that I hope we keep him.

Sadly I also accept that money talks and if a club like Liverpool came in and offered the sort of money (or over) what the club consider too good to turn down, and he wants to go, then I reckon we might lose him.

The thing is though, if that was to happen, the money needs reinvesting in the playing squad.

We could offer him the moon and be simply outbid.

I hope we keep him. And if I was Cellino I would get it sorted quickly.
