Royal Rumble 2015, reaction and RESULTS

## SPOILER ALERT ## SPOILER ALERT ## SPOILER ALERT ## SPOILER ALERT ## SPOILER ALERT ## SPOILER ALERT ## SPOILER ALERT ## SPOILER ALERT ## SPOILER ALERT

Seems The Rock came out near the end to help his real ife cousin, Roman Reigns, even though he wasn't in the match. So we've had Sting, now The Rock, making the difference in PPV main even t results. Makes the faces look weak don't you think?

This is the Wikipedia report into post even reactions:

The negative reaction of the fans attending the event in Philadelphia towards the Royal Rumble match and its winner was described as being worse than the 2014 event. When Daniel Bryan was eliminated in the first half of the match, the crowd repeatedly chanted his name for the second half of the match while booing other wrestlers making their entrance to the match, including eventual winner and usual fan favourite Roman Reigns. The crowd grew even more unhappy when Dolph Ziggler and Dean Ambrose were eliminated, and were noted to have chanted for the villainous Rusev when the main event came down to he and Reigns, as well as chants of "bullpoo" and "CM Punk". Reigns was booed after winning the main event and even after he received the Rock's endorsement, while the Rock was heckled for helping Reigns.

Some fans took to social media to display their displeasure at Bryan's elimination. Shortly after the event, #CancelWWENetwork became the top Twitter trend worldwide, while PWInsider.com reported that the WWE Network online cancellation page was failing to load and that some subscribers who had called WWE to cancel their subscription were told to call back the next day as there were too many people attempting to manually cancel their subscription.

Dave Scherer of PWInsider.com wrote that the event "is definitely worth watching for the [WWE World Heavyweight] Title match and how the Rumble went bad". He added that "bringing Bryan back for this match was a huge mistake, at least tonight", as "the fans wanted Bryan and they took him away", with the result that it "totally killed Roman in the eyes of those fans", resulting in a "really bad" ending.

James Caldwell of Pro Wrestling Torch newsletter rated the Royal Rumble main event as 3.5 stars out of 5, commenting that it was a "pretty good Rumble" until "the crowd turned on the match when they saw the writing on the wall for how it would end". Caldwell praised Bray Wyatt's involvement in the match and noted that Bubba Ray Dudley was a "good surprise return", but added that any good moments during the match were "overshadowed by the ending". Caldwell rated the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match as 4.0 out of 5 stars, praising the "very strong story-telling" and describing the action as "top-notch" but adding that the match was "too dependent on the finisher kick-outs". He rated the Tag Team Championship match at 2.5 stars, describing it as a "solid tag match", while the Divas match and the opening bout between the Ascension and the New Age Outlaws were both rated at 1.5 stars out of 5.

And for the record - nobody was better than Bryan last year for wrestling and mic work

The audience were in the palms of his hands

Reigns just doesn't have that ... Yet

This whole Rocky Maivia in 1997 being shoved down the throats was in no way equivalent to the current predicament of Roman Reigns.

Firstly, Rocky Maivia was midcard in 1997, he got the Intercontinental Championship too early and lost it fairly easily on RAW. They were going on about him being a 3rd Generation Superstar and one for the future, but was he being set up to be the new face of the company. I highly doubt it.

He was just a new guy being promoted and getting moderate success too early, but he was not winning Royal Rumbles, beating top guys in the company, setting elimination records at Royal Rumbles etc. In truth he was a pretty bland face (just like The Ringmaster Steve Austin was a pretty bland heel), he made a change, it took a while, but eventually it worked and he became a massive star.

To people that say even The Rock couldn't get Reigns over as a reason why he'll never be popular, let's not forget that in Wrestlemania X8, The Rock (one of the most popular wrestlers at the time) was booed and even when Hogan virtually begged the crowd to cheer him, they still never listened. It has not stopped the Rock from being extremely popular since then.

Wrestling isn't real of course but we'd still like to see a bit of realism brought to the show. This forcing the issue for merchandise purposes is awful.
-------------------------
Having Bryan win the rumble after being back for about 3 weeks after an 8 month injury lay-off isn't what I'd consider "realism" though, that's childish fairytale stuff. They got their dose of that last year when he beat HHH, Batista and Orton in the same night yet they still want to cry?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You need to get over this Bryan thing, it's not about him not winning. I couldn't care less about Bryan winning, I wanted Ambrose to win.

It's the fact that Reigns won (who also was only back from an injury btw) despite several other guys being far more popular than him, and the fact that guys like Ambrose, Wyatt, Ziggler looked like nobodies and got dropped over the top with no resistance whatsoever by Show and Kane to make Reigns look even better.

It was a shambles. And their beef isn't with Reigns it's with WWE
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I've not said their beef is with Reigns. Their beef is that Bryan didn't win. If the reports of the booing for every entrant after Bryan got eliminated is true it sounds as though if he didn't win they wouldn't have been happy regardless of who won it.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

So you're making comments without even having watched it?

TLLL I guess you always thought Shawn Michaels was a joke as well then, or Chris Jericho?

Yes I am making comments without watching it in full. Every single article I've read about RR has said that Bryan got eliminated early which the crowd didn't like, which resulted in boos for every single entrant after his elimination, chants of "bullshīt" from the crowd and I've seen the last few mins when they booed Reigns. Or have I read that wrong?

It's complete bullshlt to make out like it was all because Bryan was eliminated though. It was the fact that his elimination meant the result was sealed only halfway through the match.

And as I said, the handling of the Ambrose, Wyatt and Ziggler eliminations only threw more fuel on the fire.

Truth is the E are messing up massively with Reigns and are killing a possible great (heel).
----------------------------------------------------------
On the contrary. I'd say through accidental circumstance they've got a tremendous opportunity in front of them at Fastlane.

Consider the facts here....... Reigns is getting booed (posing as a face), Brock is getting cheered (playing a tweener) and Rollins is getting a split reaction (currently heel). There's a number of possibilities to play with character ideology here that could result in a great triple threat match at WM between the three of them. I presented my scenario on your article

No Randy I liked Jericho and Shawn Michaels. Just don't like the current baby faces in the WWE.

and the crowd did start booing everyone once Bryan got eliminated.

I've already addressed that point TLLL. Obviously a lot were annoyed that he wasn't going to win it, but that was far from the opt reason behind it, IMO.

I like the fact that Bryan wasn't nailed on to win it, especially after he won it last year.

Was also impressed with the systematic way Show and Kane knocked people out and then simply dumped them out.

I guess the E thought that the SOTY Slammy winner would be a big favourite.

I'd like to see the real family of Reigns e.g. The Rock, The Uso's etc. unite as a faction.
