That's not strictly true. Teams from the lower leagues in England can put up strong performances against the EPL teams in cup competitions as evidenced by some of the Carling cup results last week, as well as in recent years, Barnsley etc.

The gap in resources is huge but this can't be used as an excuse all the time. Teams with very little investment who have recently been in the EPL (Burnley/Hull/Blackpool) would still give the top SPL clubs a hiding.

those are cup shocks mate, they wouldn't be able to replicate those results on a consistent basis, european games are taken more seriously than league cup games.

Fact of the matter is championship teams get more tv revenue than the old firm domestic wise, if Hearts had Tottenhams money and vice versa then Tottenham would have been destroyed, it's common sense, thats why the top teams on the planet top footballs rich list
