I have today e-mailed Barnsley Football Club, with refernce to their ticket pricing policy.
The Email is copied and pasted below.
good afternoon Barnsley FC,
I am writing to you after reading the huge increase in ticket
prices at Oakwell this season! Oakwell is one of my top 2 or 3 away
grounds and have visited your ground on about 9 occasions.
I was appalled when your ticket prices appeared on the Leicester City website!
£30 for adults is shocking, Yes I know Derby, Forest and Ipswich
charge similar prices, but for your club to charge seems like a slap
in the face to football supporters who are the life line of most
clubs. I sat his as last season I paid £22 to visit Oakwell, and
only £20 the season before, and I remember a few years ago only
paying £10 in the home end.
Now £30 may not sound that bad, in comparison to Forest, Derby and
Ipswich, but after looking into this in more detail, I see that there
are 3 games at Oakwell inside 12 days.
Mon 5th September, .......... England v Israel U-21's ............Price £10
Sat 10th September, ...........Barnsley v LeicesterCity............Price £30
Sat 17th September ............Barnsley V Watford ..................Price £16
I realise that you are charging the Barnsley fans the same price as
the visiting fans! we are all aware that Leicester city have been
spending big this summer, but just because the club's new owners have
plenty of money, it doesn't mean that the clubs supporters have!
I have also looked into your clubs categorising of the games, and i
see that 16 of the 23 teams in the championship are category A. I
know most clubs now do this system of grading the games, bu to ask us
to pay almost twice as much as the Watford fans is a right good slap
in the face not to just us in Leicestershire, but to most football
fans of the teams in this league including your own supporters!
I will also let you know that there is a campaign gathering pace ,
calling for Leicester City supporters to Boycott the game at Oakwell
on September 10th.
I sincerely hope that common sense will prevail, and I look forward
to hearing from you

We should all stand together and put pressure on Barnsley FC

we're questioning your clubs ticket pricing, not insulting your fans.... don't make it something it's not. not sure whether to make the trip up or to just stay in the MIDLANDS and listen to it

It's been good debating the points that have arisen in the article spartacus

You refuse to debate...How much do LCFC charge for their platinum games?
I'll give you a clue...it's between £29 and £31...

which is £30. i think you're the one missing the point, we're not complaining about the £30, we're complaining that we pay £30, yet watford only payt £16, now please explain to me WHY THAT MAKES SENSE?!?!?!? we're all football fans, and credit to barnsley the home and away support get charged the same, are you happy paying nearly twice as much to see your team play leicester one week than play watford the week after?

be stubborn spartacus and say you're happy with Barnsley FC's pricing structure
posted on 27/8/11
So why, exactly, do LCFC have a pricing structure that differs between different teams?
Please answer the question.
posted on 27/8/11
it differs, not doubles
posted on 27/8/11
So we charge £16 for a couple of games as opposed to LCFC's £25 cheapest ticket.
I would think that you'd agree that you're one of the biggest teams in the league...Therefore...Pay up or shut up.

If you Leicester lads want instant Premier League, then you're going to have to get used to the prices pretty quickly this season! I'm pretty sure, if you do get promoted this season, that you won't be bombarding the, say, Liverpool board for their £40 or whatever tickets. Get used to it 30 squid is peanuts compared to Premiership pricing. Can't have ya cake and eat it fellas
