Being a huge fan of the Rocky movies I was wondering how many people are interested in the new Rocky movie which is actually being made at the moment?
It's not a Rocky movie as such. More of a spin-off and it's based around Apollo Creed's son (or grandson depending on which reports you believe) called Adonis Creed.
Rocky won't be the main character in this movie but he will appear in it as Creed's trainer, I assume as a return favour for Apollo helping to get Rocky's career back on track in Rocky 3.
Anyway being a big movie and boxing fan this movie excites me a lot, especially as if the movie is successful it could be the beginning of a new Creed franchise with more sequels to follow.
At the same time it could also be a Rocky 5 sized turkey although I find that hard to believe when you look at the actors and director involved.

I think Creed is going to surprise people. It's being made by the Fruitvale Station director which was a highly acclaimed movie so it's going to be a serious drama made in the same style as Rocky 1, 2 and Balboa.
It'll be coming out later this year though so hopefully we get a trailer fairly soon as that will give a much better idea.

Fruit ale station was critically acclaimed! Very good movie and if creed is of a so liar ilk, we have a stunning movie.
P.s "hey woman!" Best movie line.

The Creed trailer came out fairly recently and it looks great, everything I was hoping it would be and Jordan looks like he nails it as Apollo Creed's son:

Yeah I don't think it's the son that we saw in Rocky 2. Much more likely a son born anytime after that as we didn't see anymore of Apollo's kids in either Rocky 3 or 4.
I get the impression from the trailer that Adonis was either an infant or not even born when Apollo died. The latter makes the most sense to me.
Either way the Rocky timeline doesn't adhere strictly to the year that the movie came out I don't think. By the look of it Creed's son is in his mid twenties in this movie

Southpaw looks like it could be good but the trailer pretty much gives away the entire plot from what I saw.
Feels like I don't need to see the movie now. Putting my Rocky bias and nostalgia aside now I just think that Creed looks like the better movie judging by the trailer.

In fact I can definitively say that it doesn't. Rocky 1 came out in 76 where Rocky is 30 years old.
Rocky 2 came out in 79 where Rocky is the same age as he was in 1 pretty much.
Rocky 5 came out in 90 and Rocky is the same age he was in Rocky 4 which came out in 85.
So it's certainly no big stretch of the imagination for Creed's son to be playing someone in his mid twenties. Or even a bit younger for that matter.

Always loved the way that when Rocky left for Russia his son was about 8 and when he got back he was 13

Yup Rocky 5 was appalling but Balboa redeemed it.
1985 was also 1990 according to the Rockyverse so if Creed's son was born in 1990 he would be 25 today which judging by the trailer is the age he seems to be.
Problem solved
