3pm at the City Ground
Last 6 results (most recent first)
Forest: DLLWDW
Town: WDLDDL
Ticket Info: £28.00 adults, £20 seniors and £14 under 18’s if bought before Saturday. They go up £2 if pay on the gate (or so I’ve read somewhere)
Ground Capacity: 30,576.
Match officials: Referee - Darren Deadman
Assistants - Michael George and Simon Mather
Fourth Official - David Rock
Pubs: The general opinion from various fans’ websites seems to be to visit pubs in the city centre as the majority around the ground are for home fans only. The centre is only a mile away from the ground so not too far to walk. Some away fans recommend the Notts County Supporters Club on Meadow Lane, and the Nottingham Rowing Club, which is situated by the Trent, also welcomes away fans for a charge of £1. And obviously I can’t forget to mention Hooters bar, which is always heaving whenever I’ve passed and appears very popular for some strange reason.
Food inside the ground is standard football fayre including a range of Pukka Pies; Chicken Balti, Meat and Potato, Cheese and Onion, plus Cornish Pasties and Sausage Rolls. Also available are Cheeseburgers, Burgers, and Hot Dogs.
I have to say I’ve been to the City Ground on quite a few occasions and have never witnessed any trouble, just good humoured banter but some fans do report getting hassle from the Forest supporters. Also the stewards allegedly have a tendency to ask the away fans to sit down and are not very tolerant when they don’t, so be warned! Fans sites also advise visiting supporters to keep their colours covered around the ground which seems a bit of overkill as again I can’t say I’ve ever witnessed anything like that. However I do realise that as an ‘older’ female supporter I’m unlikely to be targeted. If I am I’ll do my ‘gangsta granny’ bit.
So to the game itself, I honestly feel quite optimistic and think if we play like we did on Monday we should be okay. But, and this is the big question, which team will turn up? Will it be Monday’s team, which in my opinion was full of attacking intent, players going in for tackles and showing commitment or will it be the half-hearted, can’t be bothered (to put it politely) team that turns up? Hopefully the former.
I imagine it will be the same line up as Monday, and to be honest unless anyone is injured who would you drop? They all played well. However I don’t think Majewski will be allowed to feature on the bench against his parent club but am prepared to stand corrected.
Forest are currently 9th with 58 points and appear to have well and truly blown any hopes of the play-offs barring a miracle, while we’re 17th with 48 points and 12 points ahead of 3rd bottom Millwall. After Monday’s result Sky Sports reported that we have secured our Championship status for another season, and while I’ve no doubt we have, until it’s mathematically certain I’m not tempting fate by saying we’re safe. I just live in hope.
My prediction is 2-2 and to be honest I would be happy coming away with a point.
So over to you…. How do you think we’ll line up? And what are your score predictions?
As a final note Chris Powell, or someone close to the club, must read DATM and seen the rumour that he is leaving at the end of the season. He has dismissed any speculation about this in his press conference by stating he will still be manager next season and is settled in the area. So we shall see. (See link below)
