The Brewers in League 2 - part 3

Added a day's leave to the Bank Holiday so let's add a few more to the list and see if we find Otep's absentee!

110. Bryan Hughes. 1 start, lasting just under an hour against Shrewsbury in 2010-11. Joint manager at Scarborough Athletic.

109. Adam Buxton. 1 start, lasting just over an hour in the cup game at Bournemouth in January 2014. Adam is still in League Two with Accrington Stanley.

108&107 is the only absolute tie on my list as both players started and completed a single game. Marc Edworthy's appearance was notable as it was our first ever game at this level, at Shrewsbury in August 2009. He retired shortly afterwards. Lee Lucas played at the Pirelli against Oxford in 2011-12. Looked useful but returned to Swansea injured. Three years later he has still to make their first team having suffered further injuries.

106. Callum Reilly. Only lasted a few minutes of his full debut in the spring before going back to Birmingham, having made an equally brief appearance as a sub.

105. Seanan Clucas. 1 start, 1 sub, both away from home in 2011-12. Returned to his native Ireland, where last trace is at Derry City.

104. O'Neil Thompson. 1 start, 1 sub, home and away to Port Vale in 2009-10. Returned to Jamaica shortly afterwards.

103. Garyn Preen. His only start was at home to Rotherham in the JPT in autumn 2010. He also had a run as a sub at Cardiff in the League Cup, with 1 brief league sub. Dropped into Welsh leagues, last seen at Cinderford Town in the Southern League.

102. Simon Whaley. 1 start and 2 subs in 2010-11.Has the distinction of being the first on my list to earn a yellow card, despite the brevity of his Brewers career. Retired from the game shortly after leaving.

101. Aaron Brown. Debut as a sub against Oxford City in the cup in 2009. Replaced Ryan Austin when he got a nasty injury in the second round at Gillingham. 1 league start later in the season. Last spotted at Worcester City.

Thanks for the positive feedback, Otep.Hope you have found your man by now!

I'm really enjoying these articles, Steve, I'd forgotten about some of these players, I'm very impressed with the records you've kept. Fascinating reading. Thanks.

I have found out where the problem lies Steve and to my immense disappointment it is not a long forgotten player.

I decided I had better check my own list. It has a numerical counter down the side. I had 110 listed twice. What a donut.

There are a couple of names in the latest update that are worthy of mention for me.

- O'Neil Thompson. A sure candidate for my worst Brewers league 11. I went to the Port Vale away game and he was dreadful. I think we were 2-0 down in 8 minutes.

- Garyn Preen. A big name in our history for me. Why? Sat perilously 22nd in the table and facing relegation in late March we were trailing 1-2 at home to Macclesfield with 5 minutes to go. He had the ball on the right wing (Pop side) and, with a Macc player nearby, a gust of wind knocked him over. The referee gave a free kick. Bolder headed that free kick in and we got a winner a few minutes later with the impetus it gave us.
