Lucky Sods!

To the older generation that is. I have just watched the McGovern documentary (which I would definitely recommend you all to watch) and it dawned on me how lucky the fans from the late 70's were. To be able to watch Forest; who are now seemingly stuck in a rut in the Championship going on to not just getting promoted but to then win the league and two successive European cups in the space of 4 years under arguably the greatest manager in English Football is something out of dreamland.

The best I have had of watching Forest is coming 3rd in the Championship under BD

What a lucky lot you are, as sadly I can't see it happening again even in my lifetime

O'Neil and Larry in the TBI Thursday evenings was a better option Rev

Used to be good mates with Bomber Bowyer's son. He would be in the foulest mood when he came home from a match and they had lost, (which wasn't often in those days) My mate also got a b@llocking for trying to support Everton in the mid-eighties too!

Also remember the huge amount of Forest memorabilia in existence around Notts in the early eighties. Had the most uncomfortable and scratchiest cushion that celebrated the League Chanpionship and League Cup wins of 77/78!

Also remember someone on Grange Hill had one of those Nottingham Forest leather satchel bags, the ones that you used to swing around in the playground and came proper keen if you took one in the mush!

I lived in Bulwell Rev, and was able to catch a 95 bus at the top of our street and get off right outside the City Ground. I think I was 13 when I went to my first game on my own back in 1981 - £1.50 I think it was to get in, can't remember who we played though. Oh, as Peter Kay says, "you can never go back"...

I still have my metal Junior Reds badge...

I see your all enjoying my little reminiscing article.

Sadly in another 25 years time, I don't think I will be doing the same thing.

Modern Football eh?
