This is quite an interesting piece and reflects what many of us have been saying. Btw 200 yes TWO HUNDRED players in/out since ENIC took over. Not to mention how many managers. No wonder how unstable we have been ;-(
Also says how Liverpool now seem to be buying players en masse like the Spurs policy previously LOL

Liverpool are a joke! Their model isn't sustainable at all. At least Spurs get a good fee for their deadwood. Liverpool keep buying a handful of defenders every year but their defence seems to stay just as bad. Apparently no one at the club has seen how stupid that is and maybe they need to fix their defence another way other than signing players.

At least ENIC have generated profit each season and kept a sustained business model, there's always an element of risk with any transfer.
Players can decide to leave whenever they want in the current market and it's down to clubs to buy them out of their contracts, and today they are just pieces of paper that define a financial value.
The issue that fans have is that "Levy is tight, does not spend" which isn't always the case, there's 4 elements to any transfer
Player + Family
Club wanting to buy
Club that owns player
Agent
I don;t think we're unstable, far from it, we've never been in a better position, I'd rather see young players break through than a 20million pound risk

Really good read that, great article, thanks for posting.
Description of Vlad as 'a man just about prepared to go along with the basic concept of playing football without ever being quite convinced it isn’t an elaborate practical joke' is brilliant.

Good article.
My fave bit :
" Lamela, for example, who can rabona the ball into the top corner from 20 yards and then spend half an hour wandering about looking at his own feet, as though entranced by their own occasional splendour' "
Bless. But Lamela will come good - mark my words

he got 7 assists in the league last season, which surprised me....and a couple goals.
Hopefully he can improve further.

What impresses me the most with Lamela is his work rate and commitment, for a player like him I wouldn't of expected it, he gets proper stuck in
