Press speculation

Over the last few weeks, speculation has been raging over a number of our better players. McCarthy, Stones, Lukaku, Mirallas, Coleman etc have all been rumoured to either be unhappy, or moving to a bigger (or richer, at least) club imminently.

After reading the latest on Stones, I decided to read through a lot of the articles linking him and McCarthy away. In not one of them, was there a quote from the player, his agent, or a source from either club involved, except for the fiasco surrounding Chelsea, Mourinho and Stones. I think we all know Mirallas will be leaving this year or next, and I'd rather get a fee for him or swap for Lennon, but as for the others they don't seem believable.

I get that papers have issues to sell and columns to fill, but surely the average fan should be able to see through all this.

I just thought I'd ask for opinion, is there more speculation around our players this year? Is it due to them being quality players, after a poor club season, or something else?
