Mason Holgate......

Highly rated and at ease playing RB or CB. For a fee of around £1m it's a risk free transfer.

Barnsley must be doing something right, if gets anywhere near the levels of Stones it will be a good transfer.

*good, obviously

Holgate would be behind Browning in backup to Coleman IMO

it's not a signing that sets the pulse racing is it? Why won't we sign Austin SoS?

Don't know much about him if I am honest but hopefully another star of the future. Yet we still need players that can slot into the team and improve it now. Still time I suppose but so far it hasn't been a very good window imo.

Austin, Lennon and Holgate in and no one out and I'd be happy.

I think we still need a defender Big D even with them players mentioned.

I think you're rights Alas - He's gone into the U21 squad, so one for the future.
So yeh we still need a defender to replace Distin

Holgate was never going to be one for the first team squad. He joins a good group of players that the club look to be trying to bring through together. Maybe most will fall short but 1 or 2 could make it in the PL and be great additions to the squad.

You probably didn't think John Stones was much to set the pulse racing when you nicked him at a bargain price but you are doing well out of the deal whether he stays or goes for the odd £30 million. Holgate is very good but like Stonesy he would soon have his head turned if a bigger club than the Toffees showed interest

I have met his old fella through a work friend of mine, he is in the building trade. If a bigger club, say like United came in for him then I would expect him to look at the oppertunity and make the move......Except he was at United for about a week before he moved to Goodison.

In fact he had lined up a few days down at Bournmouth when he got the call from Martinez and Unsworth to come over to have a look round.

As his old fella is a Liverpool fan I don't expect anything other than Mason being an RS too, do I expect loyalty....not from a Doncaster lad who is a Liverpool fan.
