Today's Player Ratings

Thoughts from today:

Silvestri 6 - Not much to do, not much to say really.
Berardi 7 - Solid, has learned to keep it simple and tight, does his job well. Mr. Consistent.
Bamba 8 - Excellent display from the captain, won every header and his run forward led to the equalizer. Awesome.
Cooper 6 - Don't see him as anything other than average. Was quiet and didn't do much of note. Was there when needed but otherwise anonymous.
Taylor 8 - Fantastic display from the youngster. Seems to have put on a lot of muscle, which means he can now compete/dominate and not get pushed off the ball. Bags of energy, good passing and excellent positioning. A star in the making.
Dallas 6 - Quiet first half, moved to the right where he came alive. Great assist for the equalizer, great to see him nutmeg their LB before calmly serving the ball on a plate for Wood. Years since we've seen that at ER. On that half alone looks way better on the right. A left winger still needed by the looks of it.
Adeyemi 7 - Solid, but not his best game. Was in the game but never really influenced it. Some good runs and tackles, not much I can remember as an attacking threat.
Phillips 5 - Sorry but had an awful first half, from giving away the ball to missed passes, was way off the pace. Improved but got subbed. Will learn. Uwe correct to say he won't start every game, but good to see him start after a great game at Reading. Doubt he will start next match after that showing.
Byram 5 - Rapidly playing himself out of the team at this rate. Starting to wonder if he is on his way, just doesn't look like his head is right. Not a winger on this season's displays, Dallas was much better in his position after the subs. Alarming from one of our best players.
Antenucci 7 - Tried hard but wasn't his day. Too selfish at times, needs to learn when to pass instead of shooting, but one of our brighter sparks overall.
Wood 7.5 - Good work rate, touch, hold up play and of course the goal. He is always an outlet for players anywhere on the pitch, get the ball anywhere near him and more often than not he will hold the ball up and allow others to come into play. A quality player but will he hit 20 goals this season?

Subs:

Mowatt 7 - Definitely missed him first half. Composure and vision to play his part in the equalizer. Good passing.
Murphy 6 - Came on to give us better retention and composure, did that. Pushing for a start? Not yet.
Doukara 4 - Did not understand why he came on. Offers literally nothing to this team.

Rosler 6 - Chose the right team but should have realised the midfield was struggling earlier, like after 20 mins not 60. But made the right changes in the end. I liked the fact he started Phillips after his strong game at Reading, players need to feel like they can earn the shirt, but also needs to find his strongest team and formation, the sooner he does that the sooner I think we will start to fly. This team has potential, as does he. But today was too many long balls and diagonals, maybe this was tiredness rather than tactics.

Over all, squad is still thin and lacks creativity and composure. A quality second striker, left winger and CB would give us real impetus to challenge, but squad as it stands is mid table. However still a huge improvement over last year's. If we keep improving then good times are coming back!
