Just watching the France - England match. Is it just me or in recent years, has skillful handling and finesse been dropped from the game for an emphasis on power and strength?
It's a french trademark so will never desert them. But as for the rest of the teams (though handling among the forwards has improved) it seems as though every team has backs as big and strong as forwards...who can't actually handle or finesse run the ball to save their lives.
Modern day backs, to me, seem to play more like Rugby League players. All power runs straight at the opposition, trying to punch through the line. What the he'll ever happened to double scissors and overlapping runs?
Is it because I grew up spoiled watching the likes of Guscott? Or it could be that I don't watch much rugby anymore. But it seems that the modern professional game has plenty of power players. But is seriously lacking in skilful ones.

True
But I don't see why they can't be big, strong and fast AND be able to handle the ball. The sport has come to some weird place where the forwards have better handling skills than the backs
Maybe they should start getting some pints in
