Looks like it is official. Wlad pulls out of the Fury fight which was scheduled for 24th October due to a calf injury. No details of the injury have been released just yet.
From a fans perspective, this is very disappointing news. We say Haye pull out of the Fury clash and now Fury has had more bad luck with Wlad doing the same. They will look to reschedule the fight for a later date but I just hope this isn't Haye vs Fury all over again where Wlad ends saying the injury is too severe and he has to retire.
Thoughts?

Hayes biggest issue is that he thinks he should just walk into a world title fight despite the fact he was soundly beat in his last world title fight and he retired years ago
Fury
Wilder
Povetkin
Hell probably even chagaev are all ahead of him.
And when it comes to the WBA regular and WBC titles there are in fact plenty of other fighters who deserve a crack at wilder and chagaev before haye is even close.
Haye needs to come back and accept he needs to fight his way back to the top, not just expect it.
I have no time for him to be honest, he is all mouth when it comes to heavyweight boxing. He beat the worst heavyweight champion in living memory and then his only wins at heavyweight were against a past it Ruiz and two total journeymen in chisora and Harrison.
He needs to put up AND shut up and earn it.

This. Personally I hope he never gets back into the ring and that a career of panto and reality tv awaits him.

Yes, Haye talks a lot of BS, but lets be honest, that’s not unusual for a boxer is it…
In recent interviews he talks about fighting regularly and working his way into a position to fight for a title. Precisely because he does not believe he has the right to swan back in at the top level as you claim.
He’s been in some terrific fights and was an exciting, dynamic, explosive fighter at his best. You dismiss Chisora as a journey man, well I admit he’s never been a top draw boxer, but he pushed Vitali for 12 rounds only for Haye to wipe him out in spectacular fashion. That left hook clean took Del Boy’s chin off, quality.
Seriously, if you can’t appreciate what Haye brought to the sport then what exactly do you like about boxing?

Having said all that I don't think he'll come back anyway. Once the training steps up he'll never be injury free at his age having had the injuries he's had.
The reason he talks so much is, like many boxers, he just can't give up on the idea of being champ again

I said heavyweight boxing if you bothered to read.
His career as a cruiser weight is as impressive as anything and he was probably one of the best cruiser weights going.
Oh and vitali dominated that fight, it wasn't even close, so what if he didn't knock him out or stop the fight. Despite being years and years past his prime he won that fight both convincingly and easy.
And chisora is/was a journeyman, he was the top end of the journeyman scale, but he was still one.
Oh and I like the sport of boxing, when haye actually starts to do that instead of running his mouth and steps in the ring I'll give him credit.
And more importantly I'll give him credit when he actually shows himself to be a credible heavyweight

Mattyp,
Thing is, when Haye moved up from Crusier to Heavy he tried to capitalise on his reputation and status as an undisputed champ by going straight for Wlad. Talking himself up, publicity stunts etc. It worked, as the fight got signed. He then injured his back in training scuppering that fight and had to go another route, hence the Valuev fight.
The Harrison fight was for money and profile, taking him into the consciousness of the public beyond boxing. Again it worked and he got another crack at Wlad, in which admittedly, Haye did not do himself justice, while still doing more than most in the last 10 years.
So I concede the point that he used marketing strategy as much as his fists to get the fight with Wlad. But again, that’s not unusual for boxers in any division or era.
So, we disagree about the quality of Chisora, fair enough. For me, in the context of today’s HW division Del Boy is a credible, if limited HW, and Haye destroyed him.
Out of interest, I’ve just had a look at Fury’s Boxrec. There’s not much in the way of credibility there either. That’s nothing against Fury, but it is about the paucity of good fighters in the HW division, a criticism Wlad has had to contend with his whole career.
