Davie Bowman's Tangerine Army

So the response to Jackie's sacking has been predictable. His pals have rallied. Sold loads of players so he has. Got to two cup finals so he did. How could they possibly sack poor wee Jackie?? His buddy Allan Preston was even having a go at the fact that United had a pre-prepared letter for sacking him on Saturday.

Feck off. If ever a manager deserved to go then it was Jackie. You simply cannot, no matter the circumstances, fail to win as many games as Jackie and still be in a job. I accept that we sold two terrific players in January and I would have expected a drop in performance and results on the back of that - but in no way was it acceptable to drop off to the level we did, and in no way is that form acceptable into this season. It's a results basis.

Let's also not forget that Jackie was backed in that transfer window too, bringing in 3 players with full international experience (and McGowan and Anier are still current internationals) while he was also allowed to spend £150k on one of Scotland's brightest prospects - a player he barely utilised then punted out on loan.

Naturally on this front Big Pierre van Hooijdonk has taken to twitter to have a pop at United for sacking Jackie. He's obviously upset that the gravy train has ended given that he was the agent for a number of the players Jackie signed, most of which were absolute failures. Yes Ciftci did well, but Bilate, Bodul (so far) and last but not least Sneijder have been utter disasters - disasters that lined PvH's pockets.

So what now? Plenty of managers linked. Some interesting, some underwhelming. I have no clue who we'll get - the only remotely inside knowledge I have is that I know for a fact Ray McKinnon would love the job and would have no hesitation in taking it. No idea if he'll even be on the shortlist.

For the moment I'll be getting behind Dave Bowman and the boys, although annoyingly it looks like I'll be away for this weekend's game through in Maryhill. I hope Psycho whips them into shape and who knows, he might even get himself in a position to win the job full time.
