Very disheartening

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34775852

I couldn't but shake my head at almost every paragraph on this article.

Right now the country needs to believe that we will be doing something different, something that could help us not just get to the World Cup in 2018, but to help us in 5 to 10 years down the line.

What do we get now from our manager who has just signed a new contract?

"They are all positive and I don't see why not," said Strachan on retaining experienced members of his squad.

"Even Gordon Greer who is getting on a wee bit," he added on the 34-year-old Brighton defender, who has been capped nine times.

Mindboggling, absolutely mindboggling that we are going to consider the possibility of playing a guy who is going to be 35 in 4 weeks and who will be 37 at the actual world cup

Another specific part I would pick up on is this:

"The criteria is being able to pass the ball, football intelligence, being willing to come here and work hard"

Ok, that's a very decent criteria but out of the squad of players we have, the following guys don't fit it yet will now be given a chance in the squads:

Hutton
Whittaker
Hanley
Brown
Greer
C Martin

Time after time we plod along giving guys who over the past 5 to 10 years have shown they aren't good enough to get us to a International tournament and now we are going to go with them again for the next campaign.

There are so many young guys out there who now deserve the chance to show us what they can do, it's not worked with the current squad, it will not work next time and 2 years down the line we will be saying the same things over and over again.

I dread to think what the starting 11 will be next March, I really do.

No biggie, Strachan played until he was 40+

The rashness of youth is compensated by experience.

mind popping yer cherry? all thrust and vigour, done and splurted in 30 seconds then you get more experience, greater nob control, you go further...

See when i see Strachan talking on the TV

he comes across as a wee phanny

" In a situation like that ....yer looking for bravery , yer looking about for leaders ...your looking about you going - who can i trust ? Can i trust you ...Can i trust you ?
will he be strong ...will he ? is he brave ...and then you need ability "

Shut up ya wee dicck!!!

Reminds me of one of my old gaffers, his team talk at half time when 3-0 down was centred around

"Be my warriors"

Ok Mr Bruce, can we play football now.

we can't play football, even our current youth are technically stunted, fight and hatred of getting beat is what got us to 4 world cups on the bounce, wishing we were better doesn't change the fact we're not very good at football.

I said it when strachan signed a new contract. Nothing would change, including the results and ultimately non-quakification. But all i got was dissent
