Manchester City 1-0 Southampton
Goals: Kane 76
MOTM: Daniele De Rossi - Worked hard alongside his midfield team mates to make it very difficult in the middle for City to produce anything.
Both teams struggled for width in this game, with the wide players preferring to come in field and it created a narrow midfield battle in which neither team really posed a great threat. A dull game was salvaged from being a 0-0 when Harry Kane showed his predatory instinct to smash home a loose ball inside the 6 yard box.
Leicester City 3-3 Arsenal
Goals: Higauin 13(Di Maria), Bernat(Cazorla) 56, Di Maria(Nolito) 65; Benzema 34(Rakitic), Ronaldo(Deulofeu) 74, Ronaldo(Bony) 90+2
MOTM: Angel Di Maria - In a game full of excellent attacking performances, the Argentine was at the heart of everything Leicester did.
A marvellous game of football between two sides wanting to play on the front foot. The midfield battle was impossible to separate and it left this game wide open and with the fire power of the two teams, they looked like scoring every time they came forward. In the end it took a Ronaldo inspired comeback from Arsenal to ensure the points were shared, a fair reflection of the game.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-4 Chelsea
Goals: Kolarov(FK) 83, Dzeko(Kolarov) 90+1; Aguero 32(Gotze), Aguero(Sanchez) 45+2, Neymar(Aguero) 67, Aguero 71(Pogba)
MOTM: Sergio Aguero - Simply unstoppable.
Right now you have to feel sorry for anyone that comes up against this Chelsea side, this week Wolves will be the subject of our sympathy. They held out for a solid 32 minutes but after a mistake in defence by Can allowing Aguero in for the opener, Chelsea began to feel the confidence flowing and their football began to flow with it. Making the central areas compact was the right idea from Wolves as Chelsea looked to play mostly through the central areas, but the back 3 struggled to deal with Chelsea's attack and the late addition of Dele Alli meant that Chelsea had 8 players in the attack always offering good options. The diamond also meant that Wolves never really managed to attack the flanks and whilst Coutinho got joy against a very attack minded midfield, Chiellini and Bonucci were solid, only a few lapses of concentration late on cost Chelsea a clean sheet.
Portsmouth 2-3 Stoke City
Goals: Cavani(Costa) 41, Cavani(Silva) 73; Giroud(Shaqiri) 3, Teixeira(Shaqiri) 64, Teixeira(Berardi) 70
MOTM: Alex Teixeira - A real thorn in Portsmouth's side today, much of the duties to stop him were left to Matuidi and he just couldn't stop the silky Brazilian.
Erm...the unlikeliest of victories for Stoke this week. The odds were stacked against them, the game looked to be against them for much of the 90 minutes but despite this they spent the majority of the game in the lead. Portsmouth gave it everything, controlled the game and had plenty of chances, however they were guilty of being wasteful, whilst Stoke looked a threat whenever they attacked, Teixeira picking up good spaces and Shaqiri giving Kurzawa nightmares. This was a smash and grab though.
Aston Villa 3-1 Hull City
Goals: Lacazette(Reus) 27, Icardi(Hazard) 63, Icardi(Hazard) 82; Vietto(Halilovic) 18
Sent Off: Mathias Ginter 48
MOTM: Eden Hazard - A delight to watch when he's in this sort of form, Ginter's sending off gave him far too much freedom.
Hull City were hanging on in towards the end of the first half with Villa taking time to find some rhythm and Hull's offensive mindedness causing early troubles. However a 48th minute red card to their RB left them on the back foot, it gave Villa's star man the freedom he needed to take the away team apart.
Birmingham City v Manchester United - N/A
AFC Bournemouth 1-1 Newcastle United
Goals: Willian(FK) 83; Suarez(Firmino) 32
MOTM: Victor Wanyama - Kept Fabregas quiet.
A very tight game, Newcastle having more of the ball and shading the chances but Bournemouth put up a very good fight and snatched a point from a Willian free kick. There is no reason they can't push on.
Liverpool v Everton - N/A
