I never wanted them out, but they can fack right off if they flirt with the idea of signing a striker on the last day of Jan and do nothing.

I don't love them, so much as tolerate them Chronic
They're just kind of there, and thankfully keeping quiet and out of trouble for the time being.

He was never our best player
=================
Claiming anyone is our 'best' player is extremely difficult. You cant compare a GK to a CF for example, but i certainly rate Dembele as one of the most important players in the squad.
==========
He couldn't even get past Bentaleb or Mason last season, rightly on most occasions, so it'd be hard to even say he was our best central midfielder, let alone our best player.
At present, on form, he is certainly one of our better performers. After the last 2 seasons i'd have shed no tears if he'd been sold though, he has been that underwhelming.
On the best player thing - I think it's fair to say Kane is our best player since Poch joined, regardless of position. I'd put Alderweireld up there with him as the standout two

HRH,
On one hand you say Demeble couldn't be considered in the best player bracket because he couldn't get in the side over Bentaleb or Mason, yet you claim Kane is your best player even though up to about this time last year he couldnt get in front of Ade or Soldado, both of whom were considered surplus to requirements this year.

I said Kane has been our best player since Poch joined, which he is. Even when not in the league side until November he was smashing goals in left right and centre in the Europa.
He wasn't in the side at the start of last season, no. He wasn't a first team regular though either,had a handful of starts and certainly not in the prime of his career like Dembele.
He won his place by scoring goals in the cups, got in the side and never looked back. He has never lost his place since.
Dembele on the other hand started as a probable first choice if fit, yet got palmed off for Mason because the kid simply offered us more.

Raw talent alone Dembele is probably up there with the best, but it's no value if you aren't producing the goods for the team.

What HRH said, let's not pretend Dembele played to his potential for the bulk of his Spurs career. He had a promising start partnering up with Sandro and then for whatever reason (niggling injury / lack of giving a f**k) didn't contribute nowhere near enough for a period spanning over 2 seasons.
Its great that he has bucked his ideas up finally and long may it continue. When he is on his game he is up there with the best CM/AMs in the league, and now is the time to find some consistency if he wants to be remembered in a positive light by all Spurs faithful.
The good thing is that the Euros are around the corner so if he wants to get back in the frame for Belgium he has to keep putting in performances of this level, which will benefit the mighty Spurs

Exactly
He's been back in for about 7/8 league games now and been fantastic, long may that continue.
If at the end of the season we are still waxing lyrical about him it's happy days all round - that remains a hypothetical now though, with no precedent

HRH,
I see what you mean but Mason played because he was simply Poch’s preference at that time. If Poch picks N'Jie over Dembele does that mean he's better, if he plays Fazio over Vertonghen does that mean he's any better? I've heard this analogy before that if the manager makes a choice it must mean it is fact - it isn't - its just one person's opinion at one particular time.
I feel like I’ve gone back 20 or 30 years by having the discussion who is “the best” but all footballers are so different – especially when comparing players of different positions, but lets put it this way, I don’t consider Dembele any less important than Kane as it currently stands.
