Worst or best PL season ever?

A lot has been said in the media, and on these boards, about how this is the worst PL season ever, but why?

Is it the worst because Chelsea are putting up the worst title defence in PL history?

Is it the worst because United are shiite, even though they've spent £250m?

Is it the worst because City have spent £300m on their squad but are stuttering? Though still only three points off top!

Is it the worst because only four points separate the top four whereas at this stage last season the gap was 12 points?

Is it the worst because one team isn't clearly better than everyone else and walking away with the league?

Is is the worst because Leicester have been top for a lot of it?

I have an argument against that and would suggest this is the best PL season ever.

For too long money has dominated this league, but now it's proving that money isn't everything. Good recruitment, good work ethic, pace and positive attacking football, has shown to be effective, but is also new to the PL.

Teams like Leicester, Palace, West Ham, Watford and Bournemouth are all having success because they play a different style and the PL isn't used to it. The continental style of laboured build ups isn't having the same affect as quick breakaways and pace and I think this is great for the league.

I think it's also important that other clubs are now able to compete financially because of the tv deals. There is more money spread throughout the league and teams are getting stronger.

You don't need to waste the amount of money Chelsea, United and City have to be competitive anymore either. If you have good recruitment and your players work hard and as a team, you can beat 11 top class individuals and it's been proving so all season.

Gone are the days when United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and City just needed to turn up and win, now they have to be on their game otherwise they'll get beaten but that never used to be the case.

There is a lot more quality in the top 10 teams than there ever has in my opinion. Stoke have some real quality unlike the lumps they used to have, obviously Palace have some dangerous players and West Ham, Watford, Everton and Liverpool. Then there's Spurs who are also looking the best in years.

They all have quality players, just some of those teams are struggling to find the right blend and are too inconsistent, Everton and Liverpool in particular.

It's also great seeing Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle in the bottom three, with all three promoted teams with their heads above water.

I think the unpredictability of the PL is making it by far the best ever, but that's just my opinion. Does anyone share that opinion, or is everyone miserable because the top teams aren't running away with the league and the gulf in quality is slimmer now?

I know my Watford fan mate is loving it and no doubt his Vicarage Road mates are too. As I'm sure the Palace, West Ham and Bournemouth fans are pretty happy too.

Maybe the United, Liverpool, Everton and Chelsea fans might not be enjoying it too much nor the Geordies, Mackems or claret & blue Brummies but that bottom three for me is perfect, almost anyway, i'd actually like to see the other black and white striped team in the bottom three because they are anti-football and the Geordies are a better club with better fans. Shame for their fans but funny for football 😂

Looking forward to 2016 and a tough game on Saturday but a great opportunity to get off to a flying start to the year.

Happy New Year everyone 👍

Oh and if anyone knows how to multi-board this, let me know 😉

After all the Grimsby Gazette would know?

"This team can remain together for many years and if we're at the top, why won't we keep Vardy and Mahrez?"

Because a proper top club, who pay £150-200k per week in wages and look solid bets for major trophies will come for Mahrez soon if he keeps up this level of performance.

No clubs other than a select few can keep a proper star. It simply doesn't happen. Sorry mate.

so, Asian businessmen looking for a profitable investment.

No, Asian businessmen looking to expand their business and football merchandising and Duty Free stores kind of work together. They're not looking to sell the club or our players and aren't in it for the money, they want the status of having a successful PL club in Thailand and they want youngsters to support us, their local team who they will feel some affiliation towards.

This is part of their empire now, just another successful string to the bow,

They've already spent more than £200m of their own money so I think your local Grimsby rag is a little inaccurate! Maybe it's written by the same journos as the fake site you love?
