Parachute payments

£32 million is the payment a club gets when they are relegated from the premier league! They then get £14 million a year for the subsequent 2 years. So a total of £60 million over three years.

My question is: how is that fair? How does that fit with financial fair play? It really is a massive massive advantage and makes a mockery of the league surely?

I don't think so. There's usually pay cuts but I don't think it's half.

Most clubs have a relegation clause written into their contract. There have been some exceptions. Think Wolves were one and had players like Roger Johnson on massive wages even in Div 3. Just goes to show that you never know how well clubs are run till it all goes wrong. Bournemouth may be riding the crest of a wave at the moment but they could easily be derailed unexpectedly and get sucked down the plug hole.

Surely if clubs had adequate relegation clauses in players contracts they wouldn't need parachute payments. Considering some teams that come down stand little chance of staying inside FFP I doubt that is the case.

All teams in the EPL & Championship should be limited to 28 and 26 professional players over the age of 21 years respectively.

There should be two years of parachute payments only.
Most contracts are for three years remember.

The situation we are in and the harsher financial constraints placed on us are grossly unfair.

We shouldn't under estimate the achievement of stabilising in mid table.

No one is claiming that Lennon is a better manager than Doug' any longer are they?

True. Thing is, we can shout all we want but football outside the Prem doesn't matter a lot.

Ray, think you are spot on about the relegation clauses.

I mean registered with the club. How many players do Chelsea have out on loan? some where between 10 - 20?

Clubs like Chelsea hoover up a lot of young talent then just farm them out on loan. It must be quite a small number that end up getting in their first team

Oh right I've got you.

Yeah something like that. But even then I'm sure the vast majority of them are under 21.
