Brighton and Hove Albion v Bolton Wanderers

Bolton now off the bottom of the league in 23rd place make the 273 mile trip to the amex stadium today to play brighton who are genuine promotion contenders in 4th place. Not quite a trip to the seaside as the amex is a good 7 miles or so outside Brighton. A difficult task as Bolton have still not won away since 6th April 2015. Brighton are on a run of 3 straight wins and have won 4 of their last 5 home games v Bolton, both teams have found the net in each of the 7 matches between the clubs at Brighton. So for a sneaky bet a Brighton win with both teams to score. Team news. Max clayton, David wheater both still out long term. Also out are dean moxey, Gary madine and Liam trotter. Zach Clough is fit and in the 21 man squad as are youngsters niall Maher(right back), Alex Finney(centre back). Full squad Amos, dervite, vela, Feeney, spearing, Clough, rachubka, derik, Davies, danns, heskey, pratley, Silva, dobbie, Wilson, twardzik, woolery, Finney, walker, holding, Maher. Not sure who will play left back. Maybe twardzik or Wilson. Possible switch to 3-5-2 which would suit the surfeit of midfielders available and enable a front 2 of heskey and woolery. We will see.

Good list Isaac
I'm with Benny all will be gone no point trying to hold one back there is a huge wage bill reduction coming do the same in all other departments and we may be able to float by late summer. We have to focus and spend on producing our own from now on.

This would be who we will be left with... to either sell on or retain. Not sure of the contracts of the last few.

Stuck with dervite for another season . Going to cripple the club financially if most of those players can't be shifted out at the end of the season. Really don't understand why some players like dervite, moxey, trotter were given such long contracts in the first place.

wouldn't mind keeping wheater, if he can be persuaded to take a wage reduction

You know how we work the initial savings by letting the majority go will be used to pay up the remaining few.

not sure how accurate this table is, and outdated by about 12 month, but worth a look at wages

It's got to be done. You look at the quality of the team and it's plain to see the wages bill has been out of control for far too long. Quite a few of the players aren't worth what they are being paid. Now that Eddie isn't paying the bills, it's got to be sorted and quickly.

We have been saying for some time that the future of the club is our younger players, Their wage expectations aren't too high and we don't need to buy them.

What the club needs to do is get them tied up on reasonable contracts if they are coming to the end of their current ones. That doesn't mean signing them on long term contracts at silly money.

Depending on what happens 22nd Feb, we need to consolidate. It's a sad fact but if there's no reasonable money coming into the club, some of the staff may need to go as well as players.

Wheater picks up too many injuries. Heard he is on over £20k a week. 0% chance of him being a bolton player next season imo.

No and another one who spends far too much time on the treatment bench is Sparkey. He's a decent player when fit and not messing about in his own penalty area with the ball but he's not the greatest. I would sell him if a decent offer was made and the money was available to buy a new player.

I expected so much more from him this season.

There is the problem SWIE, there is no money available and we are under an embargo.
I appreciate we need to let players go, but who in their right mind are going to pay for players who do not play to their potential.
Also what player is going to go to another club and take a pay cut.
