What the Actual F#%*

Sebastian Vettel says the recent dominance of Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes and the "overcomplicated" current regulations are driving fans away from F1.

Vettel's streak of four straight championships with Red Bull came to an abrupt end at the start of the V6 turbo era, which has seen Mercedes win 32 times in two years. Lewis Hamilton has claimed the last two world championships and Vettel thinks the dominance of the German manufacturer has caused fans to lose interest.

"The dominance of Mercedes in the past two years took away a lot of excitement for the fans," Vettel said on his website. "The new rules focus too much on details ... I think primarily [F1] should be a sport and about which driver is the fastest.

Vettel has made no secret of his displeasure at the new generation of cars, memorably labelling the power units "s---" in early 2014. The Ferrari driver, who claimed three wins in 2015, has taken another swipe at the current formula and thinks the sport could lose touch with its origins if it continues down the current path.

"The car plays a key role today and in the past, but we should not lose that in the complicated regulations. The spectators must be able to identify with the technical aspects of the car, currently it is far too complex. In addition, the sound is missing.

"I think we have to be careful not to lose the roots of motor racing and I certainly hope the cars of the future will be more within their grasp."

I do love racing drivers and their double standards and very short memories. Forget about redbull domination, anyone remember Seb saying it would be great to win races without actually racing anyone. Now he is saying we should not lose the roots of motor racing.

Funny thing is that Lewis actually has to compete against his team mate.

Seb did not and the same thing is happening at Ferrari
