Derby County v Nottm Forest - Match Thread

I see in your eyes the same fear that would take the heart of me. A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship; but it is not this day! An hour of sheep and shattered shin-pads, when the Age of Red comes crashing down; but it is not this day! THIS DAY WE FIGHT!!!

By all that you hold dear on this good earth, I bid you stand, Men of Red!

Only if we want to sell him. I would expect that even in these cut throat times that he will recognise that he owes us at least one decent season before leaving for more money else where.

Also who will spend big on a player still recovering from a possibly career ending/changing injury. that has spent 18 months out of the game?

I will be happy if most of the team we have now play next season, as long as we get Britt (and Fryatt maybe?) back, maybe keep Oliveira if we can, and bring someone else in who knows where the goal is.

Sacking Freedman was dumb, as I think he'd have done well next term.

That is not going to happen is it?
All the loans will go back and that leaves us with half a squad.
Who is under contract and likely to be fit next season?
DV
Hobbs
Manciennce
Eric Lichaj
Matt Mills
Daniel Pinillos
Chris Cohen
David Vaughan
Henri Lansbury
Oliver Burke
Jaime Ward
Dexter Blackstock
Brit Assombalonga
Dimitar Evtimov
Jorge Grant
Ben Osborn
Tyler Walker

Plus we have a couple of U21's out on loan.

Not going to be enough is it?. I can't preview or edit this so may have missed somebody?

I have written off Fryatt and Reid.
I think Aston Villa will be in the Championship next season and Gardner will figure in their squad to start the season. Not sure we should lash out a £1M-1.5M on some one injury prone and with such variable form.

We need a tougher recruitment policy where past injuries are concerned.

Twisty Burke should make the step up next season and perhaps Jorge Grant too. Not so sure about Walker though.

There is also the lad out at Hudders, forgot about him.

The squad is in exactly the same state as when numpty bought the club. The structure of the club has gone backwards and our reputation is tarnished.

Dougie demonstrated that he could bring good/reasonable quality players to the club. We now have no recruitment team, who is doing the scouting?

Ali flipping Barber?

Road crash and it's going to get worse, when this fool can't recruit a manager.

That list of contracted players looks good enough to me RFB, if Pinillos is back next season then the defence is sorted, the midfield looks good enough and hopefully we'll have more threat up front.

I don't think we'll miss the loanees, even Gardner, if they all go back, but I'd like to see us try and sign Jokic and Oliveira if we can. Maybe we'll bring in a couple of attacking players, but it's not a bad side when everyone is fit.

He's a good player for that value but was badly tackled pre-season and took a while to recover

If he keeps fit and improves in form, then he will be playing for Villa.
Buy jokic if possible I agree and look for replacements for Fryatt and Wilson, possibly the young lad out at Dagenham & Redbridge will take the Wilson berth. We need more fire power and it would be foolish to rely solely on Brit.

Also get rid of Chris Burke too and Tesche for that matter - blimey we have so much deadwood at this Club along with Reid and Fryatt

Take back Paterson?

Pearce made a good point after the Derby game. Said Forest should look to move on squad players who are over 25 years old. Guess he is referring to the likes of Wilson, Fox and Blackstock. Sound judgement, I reckon. Players who have flattered to deceive and have never really given Forest a consistently acceptable level of performance over their contract. It must become clear that the club can't afford hangers on but I guess being under a transfer embargo isn't really conducive towards this aim...
