Derby v Bolton the relegation thread

The day has come. 9th April 2016 the day when Bolton will probably be officially relegated to league one for the first time since 1993. Never thought this day would come even after relegation from the premier league but the mismanagement and neglect of our previous chairman and owner has brought this day. Of course relegation could be deferred for a short time but as Bolton are 17 points from safety with only 18 to play for have to beat derby sitting in 6th place. Looks unlikely as bolton have not won away since 6th April 2015. Team news. Rob holding returns after suspension and stephen dobbie should be fit after an head injury. Mark Davies is doubtful as he has been ill. Definitely out are Gary madine, wellington silva and Max Clayton injured. Jay spearing remains unavailable due to appearance money owed to Liverpool. Be interesting to see which youngsters play today. Alex Finney had a mare in midweek but niall Maher has done OK in his two games. Alex samizadeh who had a trial at Derby could be involved. It's a delicate balancing act. Some youngsters take like a duck to water, some freeze. I guess the only way is to give them a go.

Could be playing Accrington Stanley too as they are in the automatic promotion places.

Away record so far W 0 D 4 L 17. That stat i requested early in the thread. Bolton have gone 1-0 down in the first 20 mins of the game 11 out of 21 games. Wasn't a massive problem in the first half of the season but this has happened 9 times out of the last 12. I remember Sam being keen on addressing stats like this by pressing for an early goal. In his reign if Bolton scored first in was unlikely Bolton would lose. I wonder if the current management have addressed this at all because the tactic away from home seems to be just sit back, defend badly and await the inevitable early goal and eventual defeat.

Sorry for your plight Bolton fans. Romance in Durango is a good friend of Derby 606ers so we empathise a bit more with you because of that. It could easily have been 10-0 yesterday if Derby had brought their shooting boots. Bolton were pretty abject and reminded me of Derby when we were relegated to the old third division in 1984, 9 years after we won the League. Our final game was a 3-0 defeat at Shrewsbury who were having their best ever season. It felt like the end of the world and that there would never be a way back. Everything about the club was bad and on the pitch there was not even the hint of a fight as we slid away. But two years later we were back, 2 successive promotions and a great period followed with Shilton, Mark Wright and Dean Saunders part of an excellent team. Since then we have met triumph and disaster fairly frequently.

One day you will look back with a rueful smile.

Deano has a massive job convincing fans to get tickets next season. Years of misery needs to have signs of change.

Vidal says it all. I'm sorry to see you go but we did need the three points and it was only a matter of time. It's strange how teams can just fade away. But Vidal is right. You will bounce back. I hope next year.
