I think PCB wants him as Chief selector instead of coach. However it may be helpful for Pak team as he can select decent Pak batsmen from their domestic leagues and they can get rid of Akmals, Malik etal.

Chief selector could be a better role. As you say, he could select the players that can be the future for Pakistan rather than go back to old (failed) favourites.

Not fair to Aghans though..
