According to Jamie Jackson of the Guardian both are wanted by Jose and both want to come to OT.
What a front four that could be with Rashford in reserve

Willian is still very average. Being Chelsea's best player tells you why they were mid table.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It's an important point, Willian was the best player at the Chelsea team who have just finished 10th, below Stoke. He was nowhere near being the best player of the Chelsea side that won the PL.
United have just had their worst goalscoring season for 25 years, and people think the answer is a player who in 3 years of playing as a forward player for one of the top teams in England has managed 11 PL goals? By comparison in 2 1/2 seasons at United Mata has managed 21 goals; in his very first season Martial has managed 11.
United need to be adding more Martials, not replacing someone like Mata with a less prolific player (and at a mooted net cost of £30-40m).
United need to add 20-25 goals next season, can't see Willian solving that particular problem.

Its not always about being a guy who scores loads of goals. Sometimes its about bringing in players who bring a bit of balance to the side and whose presence on the field allows players elsewhere to flourish.
Willian is a good player and one who Jose knows extremely well. If he is someone who can come in and make us less lopsided when going forward then he's very much a player we should think about bringing in.

People need to stop looking at last season under Jose in such basic terms. It was a player mutiny that we very rarely see in football on that scale. Its extremely unlikely that the exact amount of bad chemistry will happen again on that scale

Agreed, but if the suggested fee of £60m is anywhere near the truth, I want more than 4 goals a season from my wide man.
Also, slightly unfortunately, United could tolerate a solid, less prolific player on the left (where Shaw will hopefully provide some of the pace and aggression) more than on the right (because Valencia/Darmian are underwhelming attackers).

1) Is it that unlikely? I think it's fair to say a few players didn't put the effort in for Moyes (possibly Van Gaal too). We're not somehow above that and if Giggs leaves then Mourinho might have alienated a few players already. Doesn't have to be a full-scale mutiny for there to be problems.
2) I think what worries people about what happened at Chelsea last season is a) that it happened at all and b) that Mourinho seemed utterly powerless to do anything about it. Accusing his players of "betraying his work" in an interview was unwise and unprofessional to put it mildly.
I'm excited about Mourinho, of course, but that excitement is tempered by what I consider some very legitimate concerns. Hopefully they'll prove misplaced.

I jest but I dont think it's going to be great, though my views do come from a certain bias against Jose.

He isn't a bad player in the slightest but for Chelsea he worked because he created a balance with the more creative Hazard on the other side. For me your wingers used correctly can't be incredibly effective, players like hazard and marital can cause plenty of trouble while the opposite side with a player like William gives you balance with a player who is happy to do the dirty work and track back. On top of that the guy scores, creates and generally does whatever the manager asks. In the modern game he's can be an invaluable player.

Willian would be the Park to Martial's Ronaldo, kind of thing.
