Appreciation

As it now looks certain that Vardy and Kante are moving on in their respective directions - with Mahrez in my opinion likely to follow - I'm more of the mind to give thanks and appreciation of what we have seen from them rather than feeling too angry or frustrated at any future enjoyment stolen away. But also the following thought comes clearer and clearer into my mind. That is:

The more I see of football,
The more I see of those who play it,
The more I see of transfers,
The more I see of agents and their dealings,
The more I see of the gross amounts of money involved,
And the more I hear claims of loyalty to a fan base or a club -

The more I appreciate Andy King.

Vardy to Arsenal will end up like Liverpool signing Rickie Lambert.

But Vardy will have his sponsors, wages etc, which is what he'll care about.

According to the Telegraph, Leicester have made a counter-offer.

Is there some chance Vardy might pull a Gerrard and switch at the last second?

Or like Keane to Liverpool. We'll probably end up re-signing him if it goes tiiits up.

Comparing Vardy to Lambert

One is the reigning Footballer of the Year, a reigning PL Champion, broke the PL scoring-streak record, and is about to have 1D star Louis Tomlinson play him in a movie...

The other is Rickie Lambert.

Well I didn't compare their styles or abilities, I compared their moving to a big club.

Vardy is a limited footballer who has just come of the back of a season playing with huge confidence. My opinion is he'll struggle with the step up.

We can't really match what they are offering unfortunately.

The Arsenal deal will set him up for life you would have thought......several lives to be honest

All hail Andy King 👍

I kind of agree with BS AND JG here. If Vardy goes, there is no point in being bitter. It won't help the player or fans and it could sour something going forward that doesn't need to be.

I'm with BS in that Vardy has lied to the fans. Strong word but the reality. He led us down a route of bel wining he had zero intention of leaving, whilst it appears he was happy for his agent to hawk him around the top clubs like coke at one of his parties.

But the reality is, so what if he goes. I am in agreement that it isn't necessarily a bad deal for Leicester. We sell a player who's had 1 strong season in a team set up in every way to play to his strengths. This is a player who has had decent but not overwhelming seasons before that.

He could go on to so greater things, but it's equally, if not more likely, he'll drop a level again. Why not can in whilst we can if we can genuinely bring in Slimani or Musa to replace him??

But finally, whilst I don't like the way Vardy has gone about this, let's forgive and forget. He's a man that is part of the greatest season in our history, and I want him to come back to our club as a hero. Let's not create a Robbie Savage situation where he reacts to us. Let's respect him and what he did and move on. Even if we don't like it.

The last thing I want is for us to fall out with a man who has been such a key part of our success story. I don't want anything to sully that. And let's not offer more cash - he'll be rubbish for us if we do that and we'll be stuck with an overpaid player.

Let's move on. Best for all of us. This might actually be a good thing for us.

All hail Andy King 👑
