Yesterday's Games

Well yesterday certainly hit me in the pocket

I'd went with the flow on the Austria game and, despite a little bit of hesitation included them in two coupons. Disaster. Listened to the first half an hour on the way back then watched the rest and they were very disappointing - albeit the red card really killed them off and I don't think it was a justified second booking. Lovely finish for the second goal by the Hungarians to seal the win.

What can we say about Portugal? Every tournament I hear people say they are one of the favourites and every tournament they disappoint. I know Iceland had a wonderful qualifying campaign but a team like Portugal surely, surely should be beating them. Credit to the Icelandic team though, I thought they fought well and I was pleased for them, despite really lumping on Portugal to chase my losses!

No doubt the Ronaldo debate will rage on. I didn't particularly like his comments after the game - reminded me a bit of Messi doing similar after they failed to beat Rangers a few years ago.

Looking ahead to today, the tournament really begins as the main star of the tournament takes his first steps onto the big stage. That's right ladies and gentleman, the France v Albania game introduces the one and only WILLIE COLLUM to proceedings as the man in the middle.

I'm so very tempted to bet on a red card tonight.

Switzerland to beat Romania in the 5pm kick off but I'm not sure on the 2pm Russia v Slovakia game. I think my desire to see Russia beaten will blind me on this one.
