How much better is Daniel Sturridge than Harry Kane, despite being made of crisps?
How much better is Jamie Vardy, despite none of the academy training, support and pandering that Kane has had?
Just saying.
It's gone quiet so I thought I'd go all Nev devils advocate on you all.
In all seriousness, my question is this. Has Kane been poor in this tournament down to the fact that:
A) He's actually pretty average
B) He's been played in a stupid role he's not suited to be Hodgson?
C) He's burnt out
Believe it or not I have sympathy for him. It's clear that Hodgson's tactics have done nothing for Kane's game and have actually benefitted out even more average players such as Lallana and Sterling (Sterling seriously?! 40 times more expensive than Mahrez!!).
I don't think Kane should start the next game. He looks tired and not suited to the way that Hodgson wants to play. Not all his fault.
But I'm not sure Vardy should either. Sturridge is actually well suited to that role - the ball sticks to him, he creates something from nothing and is a goalscorer. But he can't run. He looks like his hammies have given up on him.
We can't can't can't start with Sterling (noooo) which means for me we need Sturrisge in that wide left role (why not bring Townsend instead of Rashford) which means Vardy probably has to start for me.
I don't think this will actually suit him. The pressure might actually affect him negatively but playing with Sturridge means there is at least some chance of decent service.
What do my fellow foxes think?
Kane, Vardy, Sturridge or a combination of?
Should Vardy Start?

Kane's absolutely knackered. Very knee jerk to say that he is an average player after back to back seasons with 20+ goals in the prem. He tired like the rest of our team towards the end of the season.
Personally I'd drop Kane and go
Lallana Vardy Sturridge
I don't really rate Lallana and think he's quite average but he's worked hard and played well so far

I don't necessarily disagree HRH. I'm not sure Vardy will work that well in that formation either.
I think the only guaranteed decision is to drop Sterling. I would bring Sturridge in for him.
But I can see an argument to stick with Kane over Vardy and continue to being Vardy off the bench.

I would drop Kane. Unfortunately we have a dearth of alternatives to Sterling, so we have to also replace him with pace - Vardy and Sturridge to start. Vardy central, Sturridge given a wider berth

Alli is probably looking over his shoulder at the minute too.
Joe Hart should be also

I'd happily start Forster over Hart, he's a very good back up.
Alli needs to start making things happen.

Butland is a worthy replacement for Hart but Forster isn't quite in that class of goalkeeper. Joe Hart's position is safe. Despite his odd gaff, he's otherwise class.

It all points to the facts produced by Leicester this year
You need to pick a team that can play together
In a system to suit.
Belgium are full of individuals and don't gel.
Woy picks 11 names and then try's to get them to play out of position in a system that suits nobody.

Vardy scored with his third touch and and also started the one two for the second goal. so compared with Kane in two games HRH i think you coud be a bit more generous

Looks like Vardy may well start with 6 changes!!

Not sure how more generous I can be? I said he has earned a start after scoring and having a hand in the winner, and said consistently that Kane deserves to be dropped
However, he made two succesful passes all half (1/3 in the final third, 1/2 in the middle)and was peripheral. His pace probably had an indirect effect with Wales compensating, but I cant magic up more touches of the ball.
A goal can change perceptions. You would probably back most strikers to score the chance he got, but you have to be there take it and put it away - credit where due. Take away his goal and his performance would get panned in all likelihood.

Again, gave him credit for starting the one-two for the winner. Alli still had a lot to do to be fair, and so did Sturridge.
On the flipside Kane opened them up completely in that first half, and played Lallana infor an easy cross. Sterling missed a sitter. Probably a bigger contribution to a chance but because another player is wasteful it gets forgotten.
Again, Kane's performance means he doesnt deserve a start and I think Vardy's goal does. It does not mean he played particularly well because he didnt. You cant with that few touches
