Brexit Pipebomb

Per the Telegraph:

The higher the level of education, the higher the EU support

According the polls, university graduates were the most likely people to want to remain in the EU - while those with a GCSE or equivalent as their highest qualification were more likely to back Brexit.

This was a pattern that was reflected in the results.

Only three of 35 areas where more than half of residents had a degree voted to leave - South Bucks, West Devon, and Malvern Hills in the West Midlands.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/06/24/eu-referendum-how-the-results-compare-to-the-uks-educated-old-an/

So those of us who are educated and, you know, actually know stuff have had this result forced upon us by people who are uneducated and know less stuff

Democracy in action

This is my one and only comment on the EU issue on this forum.

I urge the rest of you to stop talking about it also.

Maybe people shouldn't be judged by which generation they're in, then?

Sorry but university students are the most miseducated people, you're (we're) effectively taught to think a certain way.

Most of these so called expert haven't a clue about money, business or the real economics that is why the last crash took people by surprise and only a few contrarians were warning people from years before.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Sad to see many ageist teenagers and snobby students claiming to be wiser and better than leave voters......saying, people have not got long to live etc, ffs.

Ignorant, . Obnoxious and spoilt....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That chip on your shoulder must weigh a ton.

But seriously, I just find this sentiment depressing as it's just more of the anti-intellectualism that has been part of the problem with this referendum.

I'm not going to argue with or knock people's life experience, but trying to figure out exactly why people's wages are stagnating, or that they can't get on the housing ladder are complex. These are complicated issues with numerous contributory factors, and to what extent our membership of the EU has been responsible is up for debate, but I wish people would stop reducing these issues as being simple and clear cut.

If my education has taught me anything, it's that the more you learn, the more there is that you realise you don't know. But it seems to me that people have taken one clear opportunity to take out their various grievances against an institution that has been steadily undermined by the tabloid press for decades.

I think the biggest fault probably lies with our hopeless first past the post electoral system that has lead to the political class that many people are so unhappy with at the moment.

The attitude towards older voters is atrocious

People of 59 and over had a vote in 1975, and were lied to about the nature of it. If the young now feel aggrieved, how do you think those people feel? They were young themselves then, it is not their fault they have only got another say now they are older

Nobody consulted the people at any stage after 1975, for any of the treaties that were signed. All parties colluded in this. The arrogance is astounding and the proles have given them their comeuppance

Spoilt says the generation with home ownership, free education, a determination to destroy the very planet we live on and generally believe in "greed is good".
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Things have changed, so we need to change too. We no longer live in a world that you get a good education then a good job, then afford a nice house. That hasn't worked for the last 20 years or so!

That's why I wrote about the current education system failing us, we need to look beyond that and educate ourselves to be able to get what is needed and stop blaming the generation before.

We've got so much more opportunities than the generation before, we don't really have a lot of excuses.

It is both disingenuous and insulting to imply that the so called "working class " voters making up the majority the "Out" voter are less intelligent merely because they as decided to vote the way they did. Or can we therefore deduce that people of any intelligence only reside in London, Scotland and Northern Ireland ? They probably do feel that their futures within the EU are more threatened because of the influx of cheap EU labour but that does not make their opinions any less valid or less intelligent than those who voted to remain. A majority voted to leave the EU - that's democracy for you. Live with it

A lot of young people now were educated in a left wing driven education system that over the years of the Blair administration were brainwashed into a left wing way of thihnnking. The older generation have more experience of life and different governments and have helped make the country what it is. Maybe the younger people should have more trust in those with experience and knowledge of life in different times.

And apparently Leave voters are racist. Does wanting to bring in an African doctor instead of a Polish building labourer, or an Asian nurse instead of a Bulgarian shop worker at Sports Direct on a zero hours contract make Leave voters racist and xenophobic?

Mamba thanks for your analysis, however they
are our biggest trading partner because they
make it impossible for us to sign a trade deal
with anybody else. They are at heart
protectionist. In the past 10 years our
percentage of trade with them has dropped from
55% to 45%. That means our biggest trading
partner is the ROTW. Now we will be able to
grow our trade with the ROTW.

Yeah mate dont get me wrong, I dont disagree with the leave vote wholesale. Not a single soul knows how this will pan out. Being in or out, each has advantages and shortcomings. This could be the best thing ever or the worst. There are so many variables and factors. Being out could be extremely dangerous if its not handled well. The benefits must be properly harnessed, they wont come by default. Theres thousands of agreements to be renegotiated. If the wrong or unqualified people are in charge of this the Uk is fecked.

Mamba

That is why we should repeal the 1972 act that got us in.

I have always believed that in a relationship if you want to leave you tell them you are out and that is it clean break, no messing about, no mixed messages. It is best for both parties, and allows both to move forward.

Thats what Europe is telling the UK, to make a clean break. Its the UK thats faffing about.
Did you see farage at the EU parliament? He made it worse.
Europe is in chorus and they've promised that there will be tangible difference between EU members and non members. They wont let you escape the responsibilities and keep the privileges.
They have to make an example out of the UK to deter others. They can and will hurt the UK at just about every opportunity.
