Euros 2016: (44) England v Iceland

Surely England must win this. Iceland with a much publicised population of 300,000 which equates to the size of Leicester. However, Iceland have shown grit, determination, passion and pride in their shirt and their nation and have been backed by vociferous support from their fans. They have also demonstrated that they are good footballers. For me they play a high energy British style of football which can be seen across the countries on a typical Saturday afternoon.

Can you see England failing to win this after 90 minutes? Yes. Do I expect it to happen? No. Would I be that surprised if we did lose? Not really. As usual post-match we would hear the 'We must learn from what has happened and undertake a root and branch assessment of the English game and ensure that we are better in the next tournament'.

However, I actually think England have learnt from past tournaments. We do now play football more similar to that of the good European nations. Young talent has come through. We are much, much better nowadays. Being more tactically aware, being able to break teams down, being able to take our chances and having a tournament winning mentality might be the pieces still to be fitted in the jigsaw.

Anyway, the bonus points is to name a goalscorer. It can be for either side. If you correctly guess a goalscorer you can have 3 points.
