Nick Blackwell thanks Haye for Support

Blackwell said: "It's amazing, he's been so good to me. I didn't know him before at all, but he's texting me every other day, seeing how I am. He even 'facetimed' me from Miami.

"I didn't know him but I did some work in his gym - when he wasn't there - with George Groves and Shane [McGuigan, Haye's trainer].

"I'm so lucky, it's given me a real start and I'm really grateful to him. It's more than I got paid for any fight except the last one, against Eubank.

"He's also spoken to me about commentary, and me working as a commentator on his next fight. He's offered to help me find investments, looked into help-to-buy schemes and that, and recommended mortgage advisors.

"I didn't know anything about what he'd been saying until people told me when I woke up. But the whole thing has surprised me. It's set me up nicely; others who have had to retire haven't been as lucky."

Can't fault Haye for this. No doubt the Haye haters will say this is one big massive publicity stunt etc designed to further Haye's career but this is really a generous thing he's doing. No other boxer is helping him out like this. His promoter, hapless Fat Mick Hennessey has done a useless job with him so he's lucky Haye has helped him out here.

Wen if it's a publicity stunt so what, it's a hell of a nice gesture and basically giving a guy a means to support himself.

Good lad

A publicity stunt is when you give 10 grand and tell everyone who charitable you yourself are. I think Haye was a top lad for this.

Definitely Admin. He's just not giving him 100k to pour down the drain. He's helping him invest it too. Not sure he's the best person for that though as apparently the reason he came back was because he and his former trainer Adam Booth split over a failed investment in Greek properties and he lost a lot of money... Well they both did.

Nobodies even heard anything about this, not a publicity stunt I think, if it was he would've waited closer to his next fight.

Haye's a good boxer but makes excuses for himself and has a fragile ego..
But that's kind of an English thing so it's par for the course

Happy 4th !!

If it was a publicity stunt, which it isn't, Haye would've either have Tweeted about it or allowed it to make the papers through a "source"

Top marks for helping Blackwell out.
