Let's take a look at Ramsey and even Giroud for example

Playing Alexis in behind the striker is not shoehorning him into anything. It is his best position.

You play Alexis behind the striker then you play Ozil out of position, so you are shoehorning him into the team. And Alexis had his best ever season at any club when he joined us and was playing in wide areas.

Alexis is effective as a support striker. Can easily give you 20+ goals every season from there. The problem is we're lacking quality wide players and he's by far our best wide player despite his very frustrating hesitation to go down the line or discipline to hold the width. There's also the Ozil factor. Alexis still hasn't matched his best form for us since Ozil returned from his injury in 14/15 season and Alexis was pushed out to a less free, wider midfield role. I've never been convinced they have good chemistry cos Ozil takes up some of the spaces Alexis wants to get into.

2 goals against Iceland and now he's good enough? Or is it simply a case of having no trust in Wenger to what's required this summer?

Or do you look for another striker who is completely different?

If you replace him you will face the same old story at one point.

I didn't watch the Iceland game so my article isn't based on that. I am talking about the overall combination between giroud and griezmann. Most especially his lay off for the goal against Ireland

I think Sanchez could work playing behind the striker. Ozil is ok but will love to see a more dynamic player in that position
