Disappointing, but on the bright side...

We have taken four points from three away games against the second and third placed teams from last season, as well as a newly promoted side and they are notoriously up for it early in the season. We should really have won comfortably today, but we are still in a rather healthy position. Hopefully we will sign a left back and/or a defensive midfielder before the transfer window shuts. If we can sort that out (or even if we don't) then it could be a good season for us, especially considering we can afford to play our best available team every single match this season. If we don't address these areas, I would be tempted to give Kevin Stewart a start in the big games as a DM. Whatever happens, it looks like this will be one exciting season from a neutral perspective.

Here's to a good season ahead

In your opinion.

It's not a fact.

Many of our best performances have been without Sturridge, and a world class proven manager continues to leave him out fairly regularly.

Sturridge needs to adapt his game. He's had too many lazy performances where you see him jogging and not pressing. Klopp is giving him a kick up the backside which he really needs. He also shouldn't be talking to the press and telling them he's unhappy playing wide.

I hope that is the case. We did however see past season with Firmino up top we struggled against defensive teams and yet went with it again against Burney. I don't know if risking three points to give somebody a kick up the backside and then risking another two by not bringing him on when we need a goal is worth it however. Especially if it continues.

For me it's a case of play him or sell him.

I do agree with you that despite his attitude we do still need this type of selfish striker against defensive sides. Playing Firmino as a false 9 against a Burnley, Hull etc is exactly what they want.

We also need Sturridge for home games.

Yeah. I also have no issue playing Firmino against the better sides, however not Spurs because of the way they play. They play similar to how we do which means there's space for attackers. If we played Sturridge yesterday, I believe we'd have scored a few goals and won the game.

It's not something personal with him.

It's his choice of our best TEAM.

I don't believe that. Our best team has Sturridge in it, scoring goals. That's been evident when he's played. Firmino up top has worked sometimes, against better teams but has proven time and time again not to work against teams that defend, which is most of them we face. Our best team, without doubt includes Sturridge.

I agree with this, from a neutrals perspective.

Your best team should have your best players in it. Without a doubt Sturridge is the best striker Liverpool have and he is the best goalscorer and is capable of 20 a season.

I can understand Klopp has a way of playing, but sometimes he will have to adapt his system to fit his best players in. Sturriudge is the best striker, so play to his strengths in the games and play him often and I think Liverpool could easily get another 10 goals+ on their tally. That could be the difference.

Agreed. I dont know why a lot of pool fans hate him so much or believe he doesnt work hard enough. If we dont fix up then we will have another poor season, but lets see i thought Matip & Lallana were great.

Of course nobody hates him.

The fact that Sturridge can do what the manager wants like Villarreal shows why he isn't always getting picked though.

Klopp doesn't want a player who does what he wants in cup semi-finals.

He wants a player who does what he wants in every game.

When you hear Sturridge talk about playing up front he's always talking about it coming natural to him and playing like he did when he was a kid.

You get the impression he's not interested in learning new things about the position. He just wants to play like he always did.

Some people think 'well just let him then, he's that good'. Klopp doesn't appear to be one of them, at least not at all times.

We'll see who starts against Leicester, but then with it being international week, Sturridge will probably come back injured anyway.

Believe me ive heard a lot of others saying otherwise, critising his work rate, he doesn't wanna pay for the club etc. Like everyone knows what's going through his mind. Him saying that is nothing wrong with that just where he wants to play thats all its not a crime. If he didnt wanna learn new things then im sure he wouldnt strp on the pitch , end of the day he needs that run of games and u will see the best of him like when under Rodgers. Does Klopp want him there ??? thats the question. But i agree he needs to just focus on his game now just cut the talking off. Only thing sometimes with Dan is he holds on the ball a bit too much at times.
