Don't try to tell me that Glasgow Rangers being back in the SPL is not the most important thing that has happened in Scottish football in the last five seasons.
Even the English are talking about the tomorrow's game North of the Border for the first time in many years and in the sports media all over Europe and in other parts of the world, there have been articles, stories and mention of the return of the Old Firm match-up.
Celtic fans, thousands of whom delude themselves that their beloved team is the only one of note in Scotland, are once again relishing the only game that gets the blood boiling and the heart pumping.
Rangers fans are anxiously waiting to see just how far we have to go before we can match and surpass our bitter rivals who have everything (money, resources, experience) going for them at the moment.
Whether or not the Tims of Parkhead 'welcome the chase ' or not is irrelevant to us, we are simple ecstatic at getting the chance to finally test our mettle against the strength and power of Rodgers' team of 'superstars' (well, in the eyes of his fawning groupies anyway!) as they seem destined to cakewalk the Scottish game at their leisure (again, in the glazed eyes of their betrothed at least).
Regardless of all that, what football fans anywhere can honestly deny they will not be, even if only slightly, interested in the scoreline of this game, the latest in the longest running and most traditional of all derby matches, seemingly now of little importance except to the protagonists and their supporters. An interest that has been missing for far too long in Scottish football, such as it is today.
