"Unless King does something in January that's the way it will be for a few"
Obviously I was too young for a lot of the McCann Bunnet era, but from what I've read since.. he came in with a clear business plan and executed it, before selling the club on to folk who had the clubs interests at heart and knew what they were doing.
The opposite almost seems true of Rangers the past few years and even King (despite the stability he's brought) has not given a clear business strategy.
Seems they're in limbo.

Not at the wum but I think we've all got a bit caught up in the hype about Rangers.
I wasn't surprised by the win today although I didn't expect 5. Rangers have been poor since they won the Championship. This is no blip as its gone on for too long now. I said at the beginning of the season the top three will be the same as last and I see no reason to suggest that will change.
The press have hyped the Rangers challenge up, as they were always going to do. As ive said for awhile now Warby has been found out in my honest opinion. The job he faces ahead is potentially career threatening.

I think media wanted the challenge too much. Everyone did. But fact is we're not ready and today was an undoubted marker to that effect.
But Warburton is safe as houses for now. It's before my time that gers were 5th in top tier and souness arriving but it's still massively memorable of third in second tier. He'll get patience as it was absolutely ridiculous to expect it cause of one glorious day in a hampden semi. But as you say beyond clinching promotion it's been massive disappointing since. He's still safe in my opinion.

I also think, having seen the manner of the defeat today coupled with Hamilton's, Dundee's, Killie's performances against them, that other clubs will look forward to playing Rangers now as they'll really fancy their chances against them

Miller I think he's safe too regardless of what happens this season barring absolute disaster of course. Thing is though longterm and let's be honest, as much as it pains me, both our clubs are stepping stones for players and managers. The longer he stays without winning the title the further his stock will drop, he's an intelligent guy and is fully aware of this.

"I think it'll take a good £10m to get a side capable. And even then it's no guarantee. In world football terms it's peanuts. In Scottish football it's a fortune"
It'll cost £20-30m to get a squad capable of challenging. That's the sad fact of the matter. The last side we had that won the league would be worth circa £40m in today's values. We have nowhere near that quality. Outwith Tavernier, who is the only defender we have, and perhaps Windass, not one of our current squad would be in the side that won at Killie in 2011 to seal the title
McGregor > Foderingham (Although I think Foderingham is a good keeper let down by his defence)
Tavernier >>> Broadfoot/Whittaker
Bougherra & Weir >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Senderdross and kiernan. Hell I'd even have Bartley over them.
Papac>>>>> Wallace it's the Papac. Enough said.
Edu >> Barton Edu at least tried. And wasn't a gub.
Davis >>> Kranjkar Simple as. Kranjkar was a liability today.
Windass>>>Wylde. Looks a find. Only attacking player we had today that provided any push and thrust
Lafferty > Garner I hate the kant but he's still far superior to Garner
Naismith >>>>>> McKay. I hate Naismith nowadays because I'm a bitter bastirt but he was a far superior player. 2011 he was an absolute star.
Jelavic>> Miller. The Jelavic just oozed quality that season. Even after Black had his way with him.
We even had a kant that season in Diouf. He's not as much a kant of a person as barton thoigh.
And weiss was injured so he'd be in the team before windass.
All in all that squad probably was worth a significant amount of money. The team we currently have is approximately worth a fifth of it. Just shows that we need significant and serious and sustainable investment to get to back where we were. Warburton is a good manager. We need to back him properly.

Celtic made mugs of us. But to suggest they're stronger than 2012 is incorrect to me. I maybe wrong but I think celtic were until this season bringing themselves incrementally closer to rangers. They're still ahead by lengths but £20-40m is I hope wrong.

I do too.
But in todays markets I don't see £10M being enough, unfortunately, to fix our issues. Not when league 1/new championship centre backs down south are going for £5M+ (Alfie Mawson - Barnsley - Swansea)
Theres very little value in the market atm. And to build a squad capable will cost a fortune.

I think taking the English market is a wrong perspective. Yes the border is a few hundred miles away but the financial reach is like stars light years away. It's no contest. Value can always be found. But it's very very difficult.

It just appears to be the market we're shopping in at the moment, hence why I brought it up.
Hopefully we can find value in it.
