I posted this before the season started and it got some good debate - http://www.ja606.co.uk/articles/viewArticle/349509
It seems like a good idea to resurrect it again. The general consensus from some when i posted this a month ago was that despite losing Kante, the squad was much stronger and there wasn't too much to be concerned about. I really can't see that is the case now we are a month in.
Just wondering if the opening 4 games has changed anyone's mind since this was posted? There's an old saying that goes "formations don't win games, players do". Now I'm not saying we don't need to adjust the formation - we clearly do, but IMO we are paying the price for not prioritising a defensive midfielder.
I can't for the life of me understand the logic in bringing another striker in when we are so obviously short in midfield without Kante. I know that the club tried really hard to sign Adrien Silva, so it's obviously in their thinking as well and they clearly planned for a double swoop from Sporting.
We also needed more strength in depth in the defensive areas, and again it seems puzzling that 2 strikers have been signed and hardly any defensive back up - again I know efforts were made
I believe we are going into this season without the squad depth we needed and not strong enough to successfully compete on all fronts given the demands of the CL. It's an opportunity missed and I would love to know what people think.
It's not all doom and gloom, we can make an impact in the CL, but for me it's going to be a pretty unspectacular league campaign when I think, with the right signings, we could have aimed for top 6. I really don't want to go back to flirting with relegation - we can do better

Was just about to say the same thing Your Honour.
Why why why didn't we sign Gueye as a replacement for Kante whilst Walsh was here. He was apparently a target before Kante, so why not afterwards?!
There were players he was not allowed to sign which suggests Ranieri or other parties didn't want Gueye at Leicester?
An odd one no doubt!

Hold on, I thought Steve walsh had carte blanche on signings?
I also heard, although maybe not true that Walsh had restrictions on not targeting players already identified by Leicester?

I think he has restrictions on going for Leicester players. There's not much they can do about players he's spotted while at Leicester
I don't know why the club didn't move for Gueye but it's an expensive mistake they could see us hobbling around the bottom end. Depressing

Woooohh Hold your horses forth game of the season and BS you make it sound like we are going down like the Titanic.
Last year is impossible to repeat and the big 6 have spent a fortune to insure it does not happen again.
We have spent over 30m on a striker more than the value of our team two years ago. So chill pill time.
Enjoy the game as TB says we are in the champions league as champions of England. It does not get better than that.
