I thought I would write a short item on Pulis as we are about to play our erstwhile bogey team Stoke. I expected to find that Tony has never been on the losing side in this fixture.
It's not so however.
He has managed Stoke twice in spells between 2002-5 and 2006-13. During those periods we played them 14 times in various divisions and cups. Record was won 2, drawn 4 and lost 8.
Manchester City apart, there is no other team in the Premier League against whom we had a worse record.
Since he's switched to us we have beaten Stoke 3 times in the 3 games played.
In 2013 we beat Crystal Palace early season as they struggled. Then Pulis joined them in November and they shot up the league and he was rightly awarded the accolade Manager of the Year. They beat us twice in cup and league under him.
Like him or not the man is a phenomenon. I hope he stays for years.

For what it's worth. I would rather be 'grinding' out 40 pts in the Prem....just like most other Prem teams.

There is indeed life outside the Prem. That doesn't mean that's where I want us to be. It's just the worst case scenario. But bloody hell, i'd rather give the Premier League a proper go rather than end up lying on my death bed years from now wandering what might have been.
