Rooney (again)

Was last night his final chance? José was asked what he expected from Rooney last night before the game, his response was "Goals".

Rooney didn't score and had a pretty poor game in all honesty, not his worst, but poor all the same. I imagine José wanted played Rooney against League 2 oppo to try and gained a bit of form and it hasn't work. So, is he out for the game on Saturday?

Half of me wondered whether Jose's pointedly simplistic answer was setting a trap for Rooney. It's not an unreasonable objective for a world-class centre forward: score against a League One team.

I don't know why everyone suddenly is so surprised when Rooney plays badly. He's been a complete dog5hit for years. He is physically shot now. Even the Chinese league would be a massively challenging for him.

No.

He had an appalling game again last night, which came as no surprise to anyone I'm sure.

Should have scored a couple, at least. Right now he's an empty shirt and doesn't deserve to be playing.

I think Herrera and Carrick did enough last night to start ahead of Rooney and Fellaini for the Leicester game.

I wondered that myself RR. Even picking him in the first place, it's even less unreasonable to expect a him to play well against a League 1 team.

He'll still be getting picked when Rashford's 30

The fact all the other offensive players were rested last night could be promising. Add the fact Rooney was useless against third tier opposition and you really have to think he may have trouble starting on Saturday. But could there really be something in him having to play due to some contractual reason?
