I didn't actually realise it was a bookable offence? Like IDLM said, imagine if he'd been on a red card?...

Only attention seekers do anything other than accelerate up to the ball and kick it towards goal. I'm glad he got booked and looked like a fool.

It's not as funny as this one though.

That's like something out of You Are The Ref in The Guardian, you couldn't make it up.

I just love the bit at the end with the music where the goalie is bending his knees and fist pumping whilst over his shoulder the ball is trickling into the goal. Makes me smile just thinking about it.

So if the keeper had stayed in goal, would he then have been allowed to save it again?

There is no again, it was still the original shot. He just had to make sure it wasn't going in before celebrating. There's a few of these online but this is by far the best (as it was the most important).

A penalty kick is classed as in progress until either:
(a) the ball goes out of play. Either into the goal and a goal is awarded, or the ball misses the goal and crosses the touch line when a goal kick is awarded. Or the goalie saves it and it goes out of play when a corner kick is awarded.
(b) A defending player touches the ball and the ball is then back in play.
So for instance. If the goalie saves it you can follow up and score on a second attempt as a defending player has touched the ball.
If the penalty taker in that clip had followed up and put the rebound off the bar in the net the goal would not have stood as a defending player had not touched it. But as the ball came back off the bar without going out of play, and no one one the attacking team touched it, the penalty was still in progress so a goal is awarded.
To answer your question: The goalie could have saved it (or any defending player could have kicked the ball away once the attacking player had actually taken the penalty).
That is classic...
