DUFC 1 Hibs 0

Great result for the Arabs on Friday night. A large traveling support from the visitors helped in building a brilliant atmosphere!! Not an outstanding football spectacle, but a noisy, tense and nervous crowd made it a great evenings entertainment. A huge 3 points for United with the players giving their all. Flood was the deserving Man of the Match. He was everywhere, giving as good as he got. Cammy Bell came to the rescue again with a great save, from, I have to say, a poor spot kick. Lurgan Lennie was at it again, whinging and claiming that Hibs were dominant throughout - what a load of garbage!! There was nothing between the teams and the result could have gone either way.

We have a fairly strong squad in place now. A big push may well propel us to the top spot over the next 3 x weeks. Just got to keep it going!!

Think Simon "Gamechanger" Murray deserves a lot of credit, as does the decision to put him on. VdV was pretty pants; offside more than he touched the ball but Murray's pace really made a difference.

And Edge is an absolute mountain of a man. Best CB since Webster?

Was a great result, not a good game but think we just shaded it. Hibs got plenty of free kicks and have a big strong team so were playing plenty of high balls in, but apart from that and their penalty (Toshney ) we were quite comfortable defensively.
Andreu was outstanding and Telfer impressed me as well, he has come on alot since Ray became manager. Bell is obviously a penalty saving god!
Both sets of fans were brilliant throughout
Keeps our unbeaten run and the optimism going!

Shows the distance between the 2 Dundee clubs really. Dundee 2 points off the top 6 and flying high, when this time last year you guys were fighting relegation, now talking about a jammy win against a championship side like it was the champions league final.

Gents

I was delighted with the result on Friday and I thought defensively we were excellent. Even in the last few minutes as they pressed for an equaliser you didn't feel it was going to come. They ran out of ideas and The Edge and Durnan were rock solid throughout.

I'm not a massive Spittal fan but I thought he was a good selection by the manager for his defensive work. It really annulled their attacking threat from full back. The introduction of Murray for the ineffective VdV made the difference and it was a good change - hopefully we can bring in a proper striker in the window and it'll give us a lot more thrust going forward for the whole 90 minutes.

Very cagey first half though and both teams were very cautious. A draw was possibly the fair result but delighted we won.

We now go into a run with a lot of away fixtures so hopefully we can maintain our form and keep getting wins on the board. It'll be interesting to see how Hibs respond to this defeat and the pressure we're putting on them.

I was waiting for Ivan but he was dragging his heels. Didn't mean to steal his thunder

You mean the Killie that mauled the best the Championship had to offer in the play offs at the end of last season? We’re in a different league to United at the moment in my opinion.

It's nice going into games knowing that a clean sheet is a realistic expectation, such a difference from last season and even the start of this one. A 'keeper the defence can trust plus Big Willie talking Durnan and Robson through matches is what's making the difference.

Obviously more of the match on Friday was played in our half, but I thought we looked far more likely to score than Hibs did on the night.

The thing now is to see how we push on, there's no point getting ourselves into this position if we then go to Ayr and drop a couple of points! Raith Rovers away the folllsing week then St Mirren at home on Christmas Eve, hopefully we're still challenging at the top after these three matches.
