Morning all!
Our longest trip of the season has arrived and one in which is an important fixture in our quest for promotion.
A team who have been flying high yet again for the second season in a row but come November always seem to tail off. Hopefully we can exploit there bag patch they're currently having and leave with 3 points!
Last Saturday we rose to the top after matching and now exceeding Plymouth and Carlisles results due to our game in hand so let's hope we remain there
We are out of the checkatrade trophy so we are just competing on the league front which should help without the fixture congestion after christmas.
A very nervy game in the end last week at Stevenage saw us nearly throw it away after cruising a 3-0. I've mentioned a few times but we really need to address these defensive problems we have as it could turn round to bite us on the backside!

“Unsporting behaviour” features in the Laws of the Game and is a yellow card offence and amongst several specified actions there is the general criterion of action by a player “in a manner which shows a lack of respect for the game”. Even if this definition were not present, surely what the Plymouth goalkeeper did was most unsporting and the referee might well have interposed with a card before Copps had the chance to make his own emotional intervention.
Of course Mr Langford did the customary retreat which is really one of the craziest illogicalities in football officialdom. When trouble erupts the man in charge is expected to do worse than nothing; to physically move away from it.
So with the referee totally uninvolving himself natural justice unsurprisingly ran its course with the protective captain doing what came naturally thus provoking the opportunity for the conscientious official to send a player off and score 10 out of 10 in the Assessor’s book.. No doubt the entire noble body of football referees will applaud him for “getting it right” by the rule book. He may well feel pleased with himself and it will never cross his mind that he was blind to a most obvious example of provocative unsporting behaviour and that here was a situation that he could easily have diffused if he had stepped in and shown some moral courage.
I do not suppose that Copps can hope to succeed in an appeal as the FA take the view that violence is never justified even when the ref stands aside allowing a situation to develop unfettered, rather than doing the job most of us feel he is there for.

A very good summing up of the whole situation don.
Because we are just a small club we are less likely to get the card overturned than if we were Man Utd or Arsenal.

Can't see coops getting his red card remaindered as he grabbed him by the throat but we can all remember to give their goalie hell if he plays at the keepmoat

Exactly Uthred!
I had no problem with Plymouth or there fans before Saturdays game but the bitter taste I am left with in the wake of the scenes at the end has totally opposed my view.
The support and the sourness from there fans for that pathetic excuse of a man and the disrespect to the family who lost the 2 young boys is absolutely disgusting.
I sincerely hope they bottle it again and come our return fixture at the end of March we have a numerical advantage and keep them well adrift of a promotion spot.

I saw Keshi Anderson playing for Bolton v Gillingham on TV tonight. He came on as sub a minute or two from the end and was brought down in the penalty area, but the ref wasn't interested. I don't think Bolton are particularly interested in giving him much experience either. He is there for season-long loan and sits on the bench with the occasional minute or two at the end in some matches.
He may be wondering whether he made the right choice of club or perhaps he likes the rainy cold climate in Lancashire.

Congratulations to Liam Mandeville on his award which trumps the League 2 one. It has come just at the right time.
