Player of the season so far

Just wondered what the consensus is re who the player of the season is so far? My vote would be Marco Marosi. He's gone from boy to man and his improvement has inspired confidence in our defence. Met him on my only trip to the Keepmoat and he is also a likeable , unassuming lad. Master stroke from DF though to make 26 the captain. Certainly still the best footballer in the squad.

Although I think your choice is probably a fair one, there is some irony in that we have shipped more goals than most, and so are indebted to the outfield players in general for scoring more than we have conceded.

It does make you wonder where we would be in the league if Stuckmann or Etheridge had been in goal instead. I think Marosi could have kept us up last year and he probably only got the job this season by default; I don't think the manager or any of us really rated him previously.

Nookie. Having seen over three quarters of our matches the same player seems to have had an influence in and won us the game on his own this being Copps.

These past 3 games he has been suspended we have really missed him. My player of the season so far.

I can't really disagree with either of you, but the player who has made me sit up and take notice is winger Matty Blair. Even when played out of position as RB he makes things happen. Brave, quick and prepared to run at opponents he has been a joy to watch. (The last player to make me smile with their raw, if inconsistent, talent was Jay Emmanuel Thomas.)

Liam Mandeville has been the young "star" of course and "interest" is now being expressed at PL level - http://footballleagueworld.co.uk/swansea-city-weighing-up-move-for-in-form-striker/

Since I have only seen one match this season I do not feel competent to express a view on this question in general. However in LM's case, as with all players of his age, I will say that although coaching at PL level may well be better funded and development more sophisticatedly managed with obvious benefits, actual playing experience at first team level may be far less available unless the young player is outstandingly gifted.

We saw young Husband go to Boro and his starts there have been very limited and I would have thought that Liam would be well advised to at least stick with us for the rest of this season.

There have been many good individual performances through the season so far.
Individually we have seen outstanding games from most of the players but in my opinion, the player who has been the best consistently is Copps.
As has been noted, when he has been out of the team the midfield hasn't been as creative and we haven't created as many scoring opportunities.
Also those of us who have been lucky enough to get to games will know that if he is substituted the team doesn't function as well.
Some will say i am biased in my opinion but if i thought that another player deserved my vote i would be honest enough to do that.
The other players who i think come closest to him for their overall consistency are Marosi and Houghton.

No Copps no spark. Could say Houghton, Marosi, Blair or young Liam but, as said above, the last few games Copps has been missing we've struggled for some reason. Williams could still get it at end of season if he gets his scoring boots back on and stops all these hissy fits everytime something doesn't come off. O and learns to get back onside quicker.
