I read yesterday that he has more potential than these two.
I read the other day also comparing him to Pogba.
One of our posters on here also tried to play down Gerrard's achievements.
Alli is an efficient player, he is a runner and has a knack of wherethe ball will most likely go.
Alli doesn't have the passing range of the above 3
Alli doesn't have the long range shooting of the above 3
The consistency of Gerrard and Lampard throughout their career stands out.
Alli vs Gerrard and Lampard

"Not saying he played midfield, just that he won game after game with his goals"
We scored 101 goals that season, Suarez scored 31. How many of Suarez' goals won us games, well how many times did he score the winner?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
look at the facts. Take an inform world class Suarez out of your team and look what happened....you come 6th with half the amount of goals scored. Suarez' contribution was goals but he was critical to the way you played, as Bale was to us

"but there is some evidence that suarez was a bigger factor than any individual tends to be in a season, namely that as soon as he left you went back to being mediocre"
And the season before, with Suarez, when we finished 7th?

Love the little gems the internet throws up from time to time.
Brendan's L'pool finishing 7th with Suárez in the squad used to underline how good a manager he actually was for finishing 2nd with Suárez in the squad.

That should've been to Dev not you
There's no doubting the contribution he made that season. I just think it's a lazy cliche to say our second place finish was entirely down to him. It's also used to downplay Rodgers managerial achievement in finishing 2nd.

As I said to Don yep no doubting the influence he had. Putting it all on him though isn't right.

i do agree with that, i think my original point was something like "it's not entirely clear how much was due to the manager vs the player".
but we all love our lazy cliches, thinking up new points of view all the time is just so much hard work.

The fact that he's even considered in the same breath as those guys is a joke. He will never ever come close to their quality

Only 20 and will get better. Different type of player to them really. Gerrard was a superb player and leader,Lampard a great goal scorer from his position.
Pointless comparison anyway. Would United like him in the set up,of course they would.

In terms of scoring goals he is way ahead of SG and FL at similar ages, and in their first 50 games (since increased with 4 in 2). He had over double what they had combined after their first 50 PL games.
Neither were bossing anything at 20, not sure why Alli is expected to be
Still a long way to go, but at present on track for 15-20 league goals.

The best person to compare Rodgers with is AVB because they were appointed around the same time and Spurs fans couldn't stop telling us how much better than Rodgers AVB was. By the time AVB got the sack they were waiting to push him to the airport in a shopping cart.
