Evra rumoured to be joining coaching staff

http://metro.co.uk/2017/01/06/manchester-united-legend-patrice-evra-offered-coaching-role-in-jose-mourinhos-backroom-staff-6364967/

Likely nonsense, having come from the Gazzetta Dello Sport, but it would be fantastic to have Evra back at OT, in any role. He still lives and breathes United years after leaving, and is both a born leader and a very intelligent lad.

I love this that Oliver Kay wrote for the Times:

'On his first day as a Manchester United player, Patrice Evra asked Gary Neville for directions to the nearest church. His captain was racking his brain, trying to recall whether he had seen one near the club’s training ground in Carrington, when the new signing smiled and said that he simply needed somewhere where he could “thank God for letting me join the biggest club in the world."'

And this from Pat after his rocket against Bayern - comfortably his best goal for the club:

"It was an emotional day, the day before the game. Everyone had been to the Munich memorial, where the plane had crashed with the Busby Babes. It was amazing. I was talking with a young player like Adnan Januzaj and telling him, 'These people were like us, they were on a plane going to play a football game.' And at the end they never see their families again.

"I always pray before games, I pray every day – to save my family, I even sometimes pray for my enemy. But I asked, 'Can I give something for the Busby Babes'. I didn't say a goal, but just to make sure we played for them in that game. That's why when I scored that goal, you can see I was really emotional, I was angry. I couldn't believe it. That's my little secret – and now everyone knows that secret. In the end we went out of the competition and that is why I was really disappointed, but it was a special moment for me."

Legend.

What are people's favourite Evra moments?

I think he's a cant of the highest order. He played a dirty game in that Suarez saga. Especially the handshake when he set up Suarez by lowering his hand.

The birthday cake him and Tevez gave to Park, that was a strange trio.

Evra would be a great addition to the coaching staff, understands United's history and has a great attitude. Who doesn't love Patrice, apart from that guy from Uruguay.

That video is mint. I love the bit where Evra is talking and Tevez is trying to explain to Ji that he didn't know he was about to let a party cannon off right in his facking face

Some of Evra's instagram videos are hilarious. This one:

"They think they are sexy, but actually I can see they are in pain..."

That's actually utter bullsheet though.

Try actually watching the video. He doesn't drop his hand at all.

Best Evra moment for me is actually a recent one. The tweet a few months ago saying something about suarez being the best forward in the game and congratulations, etc. It actually reinforces all those comments he makes about the Busby Babes and about generally just loving football and being grateful for everything. He didn't have to make the tweet just as he didn't have to put his hand out to shake back in the day, so I genuinely think he is actually a decent human.

Guy at work shows me his Instagram videos as I'm not an active member.

They're crazy. He's trying to get everyone to love Mondays.

"Yes Patrice, I would fackig love Mondays if I was made and had to play football for two hours per day you"

You can see why Fergie loved Evra. Always said he was excellent in the dressing room.

Hahaha, he's a real larrikin.

He'll like this then.

Evra ma man... would love to see him back.

Despite the drop off in his levels, he's leadership and drive would have been of immense help over the last 2 years...

I love Evra, possibly my 2nd favourite ever player, that is personality rather than ability... though he was quality as well!

Great guy!

I was in the bayern end when that went in. I went absolutely nuts. Everyone hated me. Then bayern equalised a minute later

Yeah, that was a fecking disaster, wasn't it?

What a finish though.
