Final Fantasy XV

Anyone got this or played it.

The mrs got me it for christmas and I just started it on Saturday there.

I'll admit iv been a bit snobby and turned my nose up at the thought of it due to the combat system in the game. But decided i would give it a go, put it on and did a wee 9 hr stint on it.

First impressions are, like all FF games is man the amount of work that has went into this game is insane, draw distances, sharpness of graphics and the world created is breathtaking.

The combat for me at first was a bit hack n slash, then i started noticing some tactics to start using and with every fight finding out something new. Then today in work I spent about half an hour wiki'ing the combat at there is frickin loads to it, so much detail that its a little overwhelming to be fair ! That being said im still in love with the turn based combat system and will always be sad that this has now gone.

Spent most of my time in the open world part of the game exploring and doing the side quests, and gettin my a$$ handed to be by trying to do things above my level advice, Oh and trying to go out at night....err big bad things come out at night that really destroy you ie being level 11 and lvl 50 monsters kick you out your car.

The Regalia (car system) is disappointing but thats cos I thought it would be a car that you control but this isnt the case, its more of a kinda Stagecoach ride like in Read Dead.

The dialogue with the party characters is equally cheesy and at times pretty damn funny to make up for it.

The story is a little lacking to be fair but the world and locations kinda make up for that also IMO.

There is a load of content it seems so far that I am very impressed with.

Still early days for me to rate and so far there haven't been any completely "wow" factors hopefully i get the time to get more into it this week or this weekend, i dont like playing RPG's for an hour or so here and there I prefer to set aside a day to beast it...fingers crossed i get the time and can come back and update this.

What are others opinions on the game, from both those who have played it and those who havent.

Cheers

Yep ive put in 70 hours and completed the main story line - although there are a shed load of post game content including some really challenging dungeons

Personally i did enjoy it although the story was quite muddled. The open world aspects of the game were the best parts

Summons work in a different way than normal in that you cant control when you use them. I liked that though as you cant just spam your way through the tougher enemies

Was it FFVIII that had the insanely overpowered summons?

Well I could let a whiny kid hit this giant dinosaur with a sword for half-an-hour, or I could summon the god of hellfire to fight for me.

I think it was hobo, tbh from clips i've seen this new ff looks like FFIII zoomed in and remastered.

the summons in VIII were actually a pretty big dead end for the most part.

It made far more sense to bum around a bit drawing out weapon parts as the high powered weapons caused far more damage much quicker than summons did.

Its just that summons looked cool and you got kind of use to using them early on
