AA - The next star

I've been watching Alexander-Arnold quite a lot recently and the lad is looking like a great talent. I thought he handled the pressure brilliantly yesterday.

Under Klopp's guidance I think he could easily go on to be a first team player. He's got pace, composure, aggression and most importantly he's a scouser!!

Interesting stat -

Liverpools 18 year old right back Alexander-Arnold completed more passes, dribbles and created more chances than £89m man Pogba today.

That Pogba stat is funny but he made a few bad errors, 2 of which should have resulted in goals

the lad was under real pressure til mata came on and then everything went infield for utd.

it will be a great learning experience for the kid. you need a few of those to really kick on.

Martial had the better of him initially but then grew into game. He looked devestated when United scored bless him.

As an aside, I've seen some United fans bemused that Milner wasn't exposed cause he's not a natural leftback. They obviously didn't see him keep Sterling or any number of other players quiet this season. What a signing he's been.

Yeah Gerrard said coming up against Viera and Keane was a real eye opener. Good benchmark.

I was worried for him especially when martial was constantly doing him every opportunity. but he got better and bo dou the the nerves calmed a little. now he has effectively been in the team I like to see more of him.

Thought he played quite well few errors but to expected in a big first game, cant expect martial to not get past him a few times, hes a good player

As the game went on, you had 3/4 players marking Martial when he received the ball, which helped the young lad out. He did well on the whole though.

Given the circumstances I thought he did well.

Not great but ok.

People need to remember he's only recent become a right back, was a centre mid for a long time until the last year or so when he started playing centre half and right back.

He lost possession a few times by taking too long, but that happens to better and more experienced players than him in this fixture.

Shame he couldn't score when he had a half chance in the first half, would have been a great story.

I think he's a player, and over the next few years could develop nicely for us.

Next season with European football he will get more chances also, and depending on Clyne he may find himself in the team for the next few weeks/months who knows.

Yes I agree. The fact he didn't kick anyone or do anything stupid and even tried a few runs forward says a lot. It wasn't easy for him but he only turned 18 last october!

This game was played at a very high temp and frankly compared to anything else he's ever experienced it will have been an eye opener.

I've sen others like darby or flanagan etc flail about and get taken off. he did his job as best he could here.
