the technical director of FIFA marco van baston has suggested several changes to the game one of which is no offside something that I mentioned on here 3 yrs ago.another is no yellow cards.i think getting rid of the offside will open the game up.it would not become a long ball game.it would be like now but those good disallowed goals would count.not sure about no yellow cards though.your thoughts please

One really unfair rule at the moment is the rule about diving in the penalty area. If the attacker gets away with it then he gets a peanlty and probably the defender sent off which will in all probability decide the game in the offenders favour. If the they don't fool the ref they receive a booking. It therefore benefits the attacker to attempt to fool the ref towards the end of a close game.
If the penalty for diving in the area meant a penalty awarded against the offending team I expect you would see fewer offences of this type.

What about binning the game altogether and just staying in the pub all afternoon?

What about if the defending team encroach on a free-kick or deliberately delay a free-kick being taken or start getting gobby to the ref to have the free-kick advanced 10 metres? Like the rugger fellas do....usually works a treat in shutting them up....

View I was just going to post that but you've beaten me to it. The 10 yard rule would stop all the bickering and complaining to the poor old ref.

How to improve the modern game?
We considered randomly scattered anti-personnel mines and/or large predators chained in the goal mouth but have ruled these out as a possibly a bit non-PC.
However, what if each team had to field one player, selected at random, from the crowd? A simple note posted under a seat would suffice.
Ensures audience participation and may unearth new talent?

Anything that stops the game cannot be allowed. No 4 quarters, no video refereeing. Not sure about the no offside law. I'd like to see it trialed.
Why was offside invented? What was the problem? Would each team be full of Peter Crouch's and hoof ball specialists? Would it fundamentally change the game as we know it.
