Vertonghen out 6 for weeks

http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/38685142

No surgery required it says.

So for 6 weeks we can say 8 then.

Great news. Anything up to two months and I felt we could absorb it without feeling the pinch.

We have one game a week for the next month (barring one midweek fixture v Sunderland, but that follows the Wycombe game where we will rest heavily)

We then have the Gent Europa ties, which sandwich the FA Cup 5th round tie (if we get through). A chance to mix and match.

The next round of Europa are 8th/15th March. This is roughly the time Jan is expected back

Didn't last seasons best form coincide with his injury? Many felt Wimmer was unlucky to be dropped when Jan was fit again.

Averaged 2.3 points per match with Wimmer in the side last season

As a position to lose a player in, I do not think we could find a better (if it is the right word) one than left side of the three. We have two players who are fresh and ready to slot in.

I thought it would have been longer given his state when he left the pitch.

I think vertonghen being better is more the arrival or alder tbh. He is the key to your defence

^^^

I think if I played alongside Toby I'd look a decent centre back

ok maybe not

Wimmer doesn't look as reliable as he was last season. Maybe his heart isn't in it now he knows his performances won't ever be enough to keep his place.

Anyhow, I'd keep the 3 at the back swapping Davies in for Vertonghen.

Vertonghen turned an ankle.
It can happen at any time to anyone.
Sometimes takes longet to heal than a clean break. And the nasty thing is that you keep on remembering it every time you get into the same situation. Can affect your play.
too damned bad!
He is one of our key players right now.
