Evening all!
Well another fine win away at a potential tricky opponent in Barnet last week. An early gifted goal meant we needed to show a lot of strength in character to turn the game around. One in which we did comfortably. Was a truly good performance and also an enjoyable one in keep picking up these wins.

DFs bug mistake in my book was the way he dropped our best defender Butler totally inexcusable

Don, i was aware that you said "with the ex Dickov players" and was pointing out that he tried to play the wing back system with those players who very obviously were not suitable to play that way.
Irrespective of what people think of Dickov, his teams were half decent defensively, playing as a back four.
Agreed they were not particularly good at scoring at the other end but that was the pay off for being hard to beat.
DF should have been wise enough to recognise sooner than he did that the players he had at his disposal were better deployed as a back four team.
As you know, i wanted DF gone for what he did to our club last season but i am also big enough to admit that with the players he has brought in we are terrific this season.
Baudry in particular is a great signing and him and Butler are solid together.
Lanza, he dropped Butler at half time after Butler and another player had argued with him about the back three system and how it wasn't working.
That was another major mistake by DF and his pig headedness last season.

I agree it was DF's unwillingness to change tactics that was a major contribution to relegation last year. Interestingly, I'd just been having an email discussion with a friend here in the USA about Man. City this year, and this is what I wrote:
"Pep Guardiola and Man City is interesting. There is some great talent in his squad, but not everywhere in the team. I think it is a case of getting them to play “his way”, or bring in players that can.
It is slightly similar at Doncaster Rovers. Manager Darren Ferguson could not stop the rot last season, and part of the problem was some players could not play “his way”, and Darren stuck too long with "his way" whereas he should have adapted better to what the team could do."
I think I'd describe DF last year as "stubborn" rathe than "pig-headed", but the result was the same!

Cracking manager who will take us back to the championship. Strange isn't it Hound we had this conversation last season re the supposed half time fall out re Butler. Surely he would have been gone in the summer and he wouldn't have been made vice captain.... I had spoken to Andy and asked him about it and he said what fall out?

My only problem is, if this carries on, we win the league in style. Get over a 100 goals and points, how long before some of the championship teams come sniffing for Fergie. I know he's got a double edged sword when it comes to his CV, relegation and promotions but we all know how football works nowadays.
Having said that I'd hope he would show some loyalty to us, just like the board and fans have to him. Possibly make him an even bigger hero if he publicly turned them down.

Yes we did talk about that azza, however I was also told about it from the dressing room.
I have no reason to fib.
I guess it depends on who to believe.
Perhaps Andy didn't want to talk about it?
Maybe Andy and Fergie kissed and made up, it would have been prudent of DF to do so with the way the team was falling apart when Andy wasn't playing.

I have to agree with your sentiment that DF could take us straight through L1 to the Championship azza.
I think my £80 due from the bookies for winning the league this season is looking good but have been wondering what the odds are on back to back promotions?

I wish at the time when I saw 12/1 I'd have had the bottle to put a tenner on Hound. I was of the frame of mind that I'd sit back and wait to see what would happen after last season and even when we were doing well and down to 6/1 I didn't want to jinx us so refrained and saved the tenner for another day
